As you explore the world around you in Palia, you may come across a few mystery items that will unlock quests. One of these items is an old grocery list in Bahari Bay that unlocks a quest. On this page of our Palia guide, we'll show you how to complete the Great Human Bake Off quest.
How to Complete the Great Human Bake Off Quests
In order to kick off the quest, you'll first need to find a lost item. The item in question, a piece of paper, can be found in a glowing pile of dirt near the Flooded Steps in Bahari Bay.
Since you can't make sense of the list on your own, you'll need to talk to a few villagers in Kilima to help you decipher it. As it turns out, they'll all direct you to talk to Helka, who informs you that the list is a recipe for macarons.
At their behest, your next move to make the macarons yourself.
How to Make Macarons
Before you can even consider making macarons, you'll need to make sure that your current Cooking level is at Level 3 or higher. Your home will need to have two mixing stations available and the plans for this piece of cooking equipment can only be purchased from Reth once you hit level 3 cooking.
Making the macarons themselves will require you to have the following ingredients:
1 Milk
1 Flour
1 Egg
1 Sweet Leaf
You can purchase milk, flour and eggs from Zeki's General Store in Kilima Village, but Sweet Leaves can only be found in the northern parts of Bahari Bay. Once you have both mixing stations set up and the necessary ingredients, you'll be able to start baking.
To make the macarons, use the first mixing station to stir the ingredients together then use the second mixing station to mix the ingredients again to complete the recipe.
After making the macarons, return to Hekla to complete the quest.

To get the macaron recipe in Palia, players must activate a quest called The Great Human Bake-Off by locating an object called 'A Very Old... grocery list? '. Head to the path just south of the Flooded Steps in Bahari Bay to find and collect the grocery list in a pile of dirt.
The key to a good macaron is a good meringue, with smooth, shiny, stiff peaks. You can tell it's done when you can flip the bowl upside down and nothing comes out. The peak will be stiff yet still droop slightly. Start with aged or fresh egg whites and whip them on medium for a few minutes until bubbles form.
Cracked macaron shells. Cracked macaron troubleshooting: Not resting long enough. If you aren't resting the shells long enough, it won't give them enough time to dry, and the moisture will cause them to crack.
Macarons are notoriously finicky. Beat your egg whites too little or too much and you're left with flat macarons. Fold in your powdered sugar and almond flour a few too many times and the tops crack. Even a rainy day (something completely out of your control) can ruin them.
Make sure you bake your macarons long enough. Most of my recipes call for 15 minutes. Anything less than this and your macarons won't dry out enough and will remain sticky. Make sure your oven is set to the right temperature.
How To Acquire The Mixing Station. After the stove and prep station, the next cooking crafter you'll unlock is the Mixing Station. You'll need to reach Cooking level three and then its recipe can be purchased from Reth. Sapwood is refined in any sawmill from Sapwood.
