Truly enjoyed our afternoon at Little Man / Cogdal Vineyards! Lots of great wine finds in our flights. Beautiful patio to enjoy a nice day outside, surrounded by vines! Cindy was especially helpful!

Very nice people in a beautiful setting. The outdoor seating is perhaps the best I've experienced in this area. Reasonable prices for the tasting: $5 for three and $10 for six, and the bottle prices are pretty good as well. I drink only white wine and they had a broad range from a very dry to sweet, though they are mostly dry or semi-dry. I bought two bottles of their semi-dry Riesling which I thought was as good as any I've had in Michigan. I got to talk to the owner and winemaker himself, something you don't get to do at larger wineries.
Sam F — Google review
They have a ton of outdoor seating, mostly shaded. You can order tastings, glasses, and appetizer trays with meat, cheese, raisens, cashews, chocolate, and crackers. The wines were overall really good but not outstanding. I ended up buying 2 bottles out of 6 tasted.

This place was super relaxing and had a homey feel. The workers were very hospitable. It was a perfect area for us to try the wine and eat the snacks that were comparable to the wine. We dressed up and had a great time! The wine was great and we bought a few bottles. Thanks for the great experience.
Michael C — Google review
$5 for 3 tastes and $7 for 6.Wine comes in a plastic cup which is a huge let down. It makes wine flat and u cannot enjoy smelling part of the wine experience.Place looks nice and tidy but wines are not that complex. U can get some snacks as well but we have not tried any.

Cogdal Vineyards is one of my favorite wineries to visit in all of southwest Michigan. The reasons are simple. Outstanding and varied wines are paramount, obviously, but Cogdal stands out for going beyond. I relish every chance I get to talk with Jack and Deb, hearing about the inspiration behind the wines and the state of the vineyards. The setting for the tasting room is simply spectacular, with a panoramic view of the vineyards both from inside and the expansive outdoor areas. There's nothing better than sitting out on the patio in the late afternoon, surrounded by vineyards, enjoying a lovely glass of wine (perhaps with a little snack) as the day winds down. Moreover, every person I've ever come in contact that works the tasting room has been among the friendliest of people, who make you feel like you're somehow part of some exclusive club. Like I said, the wines are amazing, but it's really the people at Cogdal that make it an absolute must whenever I'm within 100 miles of the place.
Matt G — Google review
Was very confused with the service here. Folks were friendly, but the lady said @Take your taste paper out and find a place to sit down. Make your selections and bring it back and I will get it filled for you. Unusual, but Ok at the time. We made selections and took them back in. Went back and sat down as the second table with people there. 5 minutes later, a lady opens the door and yells out” Your tastings are ready, come and get em!” No explanations of the wines or grapes that made them and no service. Also, when you are finished, they ask you to clean up your stuff and bring the glasses to the recirculate area. Not trying to beat anyone up but if you are going to compete with all of the other wineries in the area, you need to do more for your customers. Just trying to help you improve👍🏼
Timothy R — Google review
Nice secluded vineyard. Tasting room was very nice and their outdoor patio was a great place to have a drink. Tastings were 5 dollars for 5 wines and glasses ranged from 4 to 10 dollars. There was also available a number of small plate appetizers.

Amazingly delicious wine - we liked each of our 6 samples - and as a result ordered 2 glasses with local goat cheese and crackers to maintain our smiles. The setting is lovely, the staff so helpful and a must do if you are wandering the lakeshore (or simply in the area). Highly recommended.

The venue provides both private areas for tastings and public spaces at the bar. Visitors can choose from a wide range of delicious wines, with options to purchase bottles to take home. Guests rave about the lovely location and excellent service provided by friendly staff members such as Denise.
We reserved a spot for wine tasting online. It was $10 per person and we got our own table and 7 tastings. It also comes with a $5 off coupon when you buy 4 bottles of wine. We ordered the charcuterie which was a great deal for how much food you get, and yummy! Also, there was live music on the lawn and great prices on the glasses of wine! Beautiful place! Definitely will be going again!

Staff was super courteous and knowledgeable about the wines. Great place to spend the afternoon. We overnighted via Harvest Hosts in 40' class A towing our grand cherokee, plenty of space to maneuver! Even picked some fresh chestnuts

Lovely and large tasting room and area outdoors to enjoy a tasting or a glass of wine. Hubby and I enjoyed the Peach and Honey wine on our honeymoon and came back for another bottle. Also found a new variety that we love -42 Ice Wine! Be sure to ask for a tasting! Decided to join the wine club while we were here so we'll now have free tastings when we go and a variety of wines that we can take home throughout the year.

We came here for my sister’s bachelorette trip this weekend. We had the most amazing time. The private tasting room was decorated beautifully for the bride-to-be and wedding party. The attention to detail was well-appreciated. The charcuterie was delicious. We had the pleasure of having Deb as our party server. She was very friendly and made our experience even better. After our tasting, we bought a couple bottles to enjoy outside with live music and to take pictures. This was the highlight of our weekend. We would definitely come back!

Fenn Valley has some really good wines. Great venue. Delicious charcuterie. We took the vinyard tour and enjoyed tasting the grapes along with the wine from that grape. Aaron was a lot of fun and taught us so much during our tour. Highly recommend!

We went for a tasting today, and Wendy facilitated our tasting. Wendy was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly the entire time. It felt like we had known her for years! The wines were excellent and were of good value for seven samples. It has beautiful grounds to sit outside, but I’d recommend a guided tasting to learn more about the winery!

My husband and I had a blast learning about Michigan wine with Wendy here! It was a very relaxed and fun experience with some great treats to take home.

only 1 star because nothing lower available. Cannot speak to the wine as we never received our tasting samples.30 minutes after paying, we were still not served. When I asked why, we learned our sample form was thrown away. Could have not ignored us and ask if we needed more help. When I was told what happened, no apologies offered. I even had to ask for a refund.

We always enjoy this family owned winery. There are a wide variety of wines for every palate and lots of events. The tour of the various vines was very enjoyable and educational!

Middle aged woman with short grey hair at the front does not have a friendly or welcoming demeanor to be the face at the entrance. The people in front of us was a large party and she quickly rattled off that this was not a restaurant and no one would be serving them. They were just inquiring what the options were. When it was our turn, we asked to do a flight and she quickly said it would be 30min, so my husband asked if it would take 30 min to get a glass of wine. She said no, so we did that. It felt like she wanted us to leave, did not feel welcomed at all. We visited the tasting room in Saugatuck yesterday and had great customer service despite how busy they were. We visited other wineries and had way better customer service. Wine is just ok, so the other wineries may be a better option.

Fantastic place for wine tasting at a great price. They have a good selection of wines and hard ciders and they charcuterie...very tasty. The grounds are inviting so you can sit outside( in the shade or in the sun) and sip your wino.

Linda was amazing helping us to decide which wines we'd enjoy. She spent a lot of time introducing us to different wines in our taste pallets. She was very knowledgeable AND LOADS OF FUN!!! Don't let her get away!!
Beth M — Google review
We went during our girls trip. Much older outdated establishment (which did not bother me). We had a “private” taste testing with Deb! She was great! One of my glasses was missing wine and was also a way smaller pour than my mother and sister in laws. None of the wines really stood out which was unfortunate, but we only tasted 7. I’d go back again to give it another shot.
Amber M — Google review
Carol was awesome!!! Great descriptions of the wine, very knowledgeable and personable. Definitely made our experience with Fenn Valley better than we could’ve expected. First time visitors to this establishment. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back. Also, we purchased several bottles of wine.

Oval Beach is a year-round, LGBT-friendly beach with sand dunes and nearby nature areas. It offers a quieter and more rustic beach experience compared to Silver Beach's brick-and-mortar features. The beautiful scenery and rhythmic waves make it an excellent spot for swimming, sunbathing, walking, hiking trails or napping on the beach. Its remoteness also makes it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude.
My 1st trip to Oval Beach yesterday as I usually do South Haven and St Joseph but now I can't wait to go back!!!!! Great parking, easy access to beach. Gets crowded quick. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tresa N — Google review
Beautiful beach with trails in the woods on the surrounding sand dunes. There are 2 trails I am aware of. One you pick up right near the entrance and takes you through woods and nearby neighborhoods. The other one takes you up into the sand dunes with some beautiful overlook views. This one you pickup a very short walk about 1/8 of a mile before you get to the beach/parking lot. You can park in the lot and just walk to it. The beach, of course, is spectacular and has lots of parking.
Barry G — Google review
There are trails right outside of the parking area. The beach is top notch, plenty of parking, playground for.the kids, restrooms, plenty of space for everyone. No dogs allowed but sometimes you see one far away from people. Or people walk their dogs in other areas of the park. The views are great. You need to pay to access this beach. Well worth the money for a day of outdoor activities.
Denise J — Google review
So beautiful. No charge when we went (TOURIST AM I). Easy access to water, past the old pier is private property. But the dunes near the parking lot appear to be open to the public.
Jay H — Google review
Clean beach, tons of waterfront, so even when crowded felt ample space from others. Rocky not sandy in water but fun searching for stones. Excellent beach day, easy walk with your beach gear. No huge dunes to get there.

What a well managed and maintained beach! There is a $15 fee per car. Parking was easy. Has a concession stand, outdoor shower, etc. Bring your sun umbrella or beachchairs if you want as these are not available to rent. Lots of families. The whole beach was clean and free of debris, bottles/cans, wrappers, etc. Go and you are sure to enjoy.

Beautiful beach, but kind of hard to get up the dunes if your older. Lovely sunsets. Parking $10.00 in season.

We visited from Iowa and had no idea such beauty was at our backdoor. We figured we'd have to travel to the coastline, but nope, this is the spot for a quick road trip. One of the days it was pretty windy, so we moved our chairs next to a dune, problem solved. This is a must if you like the beach!

This is a nice beach that is well taken care of. Sand is clean and clear of debris. They are dredging the inlet to the Kalamazoo river as you can see by the pipes on the beach. Be careful the pipe is very hot little kiddos could really get burnt in the heat of the day when climbing over it. This is supposed to be completed by the end of July. The descent to the water is smooth easy to traverse. My wife and spent the afternoon here in a Monday. Around noon when we arrived it was only busy in the main (center) section of the beach. However by 3:00 it was busy everywhere! Very crowded….

A busy beach. They were doing some construction with it. Made it looked not as pretty. But still a nice beach. The beach is safer than the other beaches. Did have to pay $15 for parking. Thats pretty steep

Wonderful pristine beach! But get there early. Parking fills up fast. They were refurbishing some of the beach when we visited there. Clean restrooms with picnic area facing lake. Only wish they had one more mat to shore for easy access .Only one available at end parking lot.

Beach itself is beautiful, the facilities are nice. They have outdoor showers to rinse off. Downfalls- if you have a dog, this beach does not allow them, the parking is 15.00 and the parking lot is very full. Overall nice to visit but I personally would choose Holland state park over this one in the future.
Julie B — Google review
This is a beautiful location save for the large amount of dead fish, we saw at least 6 and the water was green from alge in some areas though there were alot of people swimming the dunes are lovely and the pier is fun to walk down to

I came for the sunset and wasn’t disappointed one bit! It was so beautiful, like you walked right into a painting. Well maintained beach, and the views speak for themselves

A beautifully serene beach. Day parking is $15, season pass is $85, one day parking is multiple entry and valid until 10pm. Sand is very fine and kept clean, there are picnic tables and bathrooms up near parking. You can access Mt Baldhead trail from the beach. So many flies that bite so bring repellent.

The Saugatuck Dune Rides is a popular tourist attraction in Saugatuck, operating since the 1950s. Its rugged off-road trails offer visitors great views of lakeshore dunes, trees and grasses. The drivers are knowledgeable and provide interesting historical facts about the area during their tours. The ride lasts around 45 minutes but seems to go by quickly due to its fun nature.
We had an absolute great time! Our driver Bernie was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The ride was fun and the dunes were awesome!! I would recommend getting a time slot in advance online. The slots fill up fast.

It's such a unique experience that you can't find anywhere else, and it was definitely worth the money. The combination of excitement and breathtaking scenery made for an unforgettable adventure. I highly recommend this dune ride if you're looking for something fun and different to do!

Our driver, Johnny, was great! Very knowledgeable and funny. The history of the area was fascinating. The quick stop at the top was unexpected and it was nice to get some pictures and walk around for a bit. The ride itself was so fun! We had our 3 kids and they all enjoyed it a lot, even my toddler who sat on my lap. Highly recommend doing this activity! My friends and I greatly enjoyed the Saugatuck Dune Rides! Our driver was very funny and knowledgeable. It was especially nice getting to feel the strong breeze on the ride during a hot day and being able to walk around the top of one of the sand dunes.

It's wasn't exactly what I was expecting but More. Our guide Paul was funny and helped out with pics of us at the highest Dune. Once you hear the stories of how they stopped the dunes from moving so fast it will make more sense why they look the way they do, and the story of the buried ghost town was very interesting. The drive in our Modified truck was so fun. I recomend if in the area as a must do. Thank You for the fun and stories.

Oh this was so much fun. You can buy in advance. They do accept walk ins, which is what we did. We were able to walk in and be loaded on the buggy for the very next ride, in fifteen minutes. The driver Gary was hilarious. He made the adventure so much better with his commentary. I highly recommend this and I'll definitely be back with different humans.

Our driver, Austin, was wonderful! Lots of good history & plenty of corny jokes. The history of the area was so cool & it is so beautiful. There is quick stop at the top of the dunes which was unexpected. He took a picture of our group & gave us suggestions for the area. The ride itself was thrilling - not what you expect but in a good way! Highly recommend doing this activity for your weekend, very family friendly. So much fun! A 40 minute ride, couple of stops to get out and take pictures, beautiful views of Lake Michigan, driver gives some history and also some bad jokes 😜! Make sure you ask for Frosty the driver, he is the best!

Great for all ages. The jokes were a bit too much for me even if you admit how horrible they are. But I guess that’s part of the charm. My kids certainly enjoyed the ride at 5 and 7 years old.I was actually very interested in learning about the dunes. Very informative. It was really hot the day we went but enough breeze made it bearable. For what it’s worth I couldn’t get through on the phone (busy signal). I tried a few hours later at 11 and I was able to book same day.

This experience was better than I thought it would be! The driver was entertaining and knowledgeable about the dunes while giving us a wild ride. We were a tiny bit giddy with the adrenaline rush of racing along the dune trails. Each row of the open air, vintage, 5 row SUV has a communal seatbelt (4 adults per row) and a grab bar to hold onto in the bumpy spots. Don’t be afraid to put your hands up on the fast, down hill spots. Felt like a small roller coaster (with less safety concerns). 😂

We recently had the pleasure of experiencing Saugatuck Dune Rides, and it was an absolute blast! It was great for our family. Kids are 6 and 8 years old. From the moment we hopped into the dune buggy, we were greeted with friendly smiles and area history from our driver. The ride itself was exhilarating, as the driver skillfully navigated the dunes (a bit like a roller coaster our kids said). The views from the top of the tallest dune are great, and the driver's knowledge of the local area made the experience even more enjoyable. We learned about the history of the dunes, the plant life, and the ghost town of Singapore which disappeared under the dunes.

The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is a beautiful botanical garden and sculpture park located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The attraction contains a collection of sculptures by famous artists such as Jonathan Borofsky, Mark di Suvero, and Nina Akamu. It also features a botanical garden with many different types of plants. This park is a must-see for anyone visiting Grand Rapids!
FM Gardens and Sculpture Park is one of the gems of Michigan (the whole country, really!) I’ve been a member over the years, and they keep making a great place even better. I go there often, to walk amongst the beautiful grounds, and to see the art - they have over 200 sculptures by world-class artists! If you have kids (I took mine when they were little and now bring my granddaughter) there is a special children’s garden full of interactive things to do, as well as an awesome indoor play area. The whole place is a wonderland for children, full of plants and wildlife, including swans and geese and ducks and turtles and frogs in the wetlands boardwalk area. And there is a great cafe, wonderful gift shop, picnic area where you can bring your own food, and plenty of spotlessly clean restrooms :) They also offer many special events, including parties and concerts, and things like the butterflies in the spring and holiday trees from around the world in late fall. If you haven’t been, I recommend it as one of the top things to do in Grand Rapids!

It's one of the nicest Bottanical gardens we've been to. The sculptures spread out around the grounds, and interiors add a lot to the experience and are well curated and of very high quality and artistic value as well as being representative of many eras and styles. It was hotter than expected, so we stayed to the paths with some shade. From the sounds of laughter and giggles the kids were having fun at the water feature in the children's garden. We'll definitely be back again.

Excellent place to see a show or relax with friends. They had very clean bathrooms, great acoustics, and a very good food selection. The prices were pretty fair too. You can people watch all day or take in all the art. We got to see Sierra Ferrel and she nailed it. Be very careful about the chairs you decide to bring in because they measure everything at the door. There’s some floor seats right up front available if you’re brave enough.

In addition to the congenial and accomodating staff, I felt particularly grateful for the very expansive and tranquil Japanese Garden (including the space dedicated to "Faith Reflection"), the English Perennial Garden, the cafe, and the gift shop! Everything is meticulously curated and maintained! It reminds me of Heaven on Earth!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/5 Stars

I visited on the Fourth of July since it was one of few places open and we had to wait to check into our hotel and it was a really cool experience! The info desk was super helpful in telling us the main places to see if we only had a few hours. The sculptures are very interesting and the gardens are beautiful, but their insect exhibit was what blew us away and we almost missed it! It’s inside the welcome building behind the restroom area so definitely make sure to check out the exhibits that are there!

Outstanding place! The gardens in summer are gorgeous. The indoor exhibitions are exquisite art. The greenhouse is impressive and relaxing. The. Children's Garden is super fun, I loved the Michigan state pool shape, and it has boats for the kids to play. The playground is great with plenty of shade and space to play. In summer, they have different activities each day, such as clay, bugs, and construction blocks. There is a tour ride on a train, which is $5 extras but totally worth it. For many reasons, it is one of Michigan iconic places that you can't miss.

This place is truly amazing. Being outside, surrounded by the gardens and nature, was so calming and relaxing. There was a pumpkin patch with pumpkins so huge that kids were climbing on them. It was fun to watch. There was also a children's garden, which was nice. There were many large sculptures to admire throughout the whole place. There is a tram that will take you around all the gardens, but you can't get off. To walk the whole garden is between 1 and 2 miles.
LESLIE C — Google review
Spent the entire day here with friends who had never visited the gardens before. We started out with the 45 minute tram tour ($5), which took us through the entire complex, highlighting everything in the sculpture gardens and giving an overview of the botanical gardens that we might choose to visit. It was a very hot day, so we took a midday break inside at the cafe. Definitely bring water or plan on visiting the cafe to rehydrate and enjoy the air conditioning inside on hot summer days, or enjoy the lovely patio dining on cooler days. We visited multiple gardens, and the Japanese Garden and Children's Garden were our highlight of the day. Before we left at the end of the day, we enjoyed a special exhibit indoors on flight. A few pictures of the exhibit are included.

A must visit place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Eye soothing ambiance and scenery. The thing I didn't like is it closes too early, at 5.00PM. You should plan for at least 4-5 hours for this place. 2-3 hrs are just not enough. Only the Japanese garden will take 1-2 hrs if you want to see the full garden. Too much to see, heaven for photography. Though the ticket price is pretty high. And it is difficult to find parking during the weekend.

A good size of a garden! It's not too big to make people exhausted, and not too small to make people bored. Very well maintained. Don't miss out the tram if it's your first visit. The guide did a good job introducing statues in the park.

Wonderful place to visit. The gardens and facility itself are beautiful. Indoor and outdoor gardens to explore, easy parking and they also have banquet halls for large group settings. I definitely recommend seeing this place.

Gorgeous facility! We took the tram ride, which cost $6 each, to view the sculpture garden as we were limited on time. The guide was knowledgeable about the sculptures and the artists, adding details to our visit. We then walked the Japanese Garden. Absolutely stunning! A tranquil setting that was very peaceful. Unfortunately the Corpse flower was done blooming but still on display, so we could see the size of the plant and hear the details of its bloom cycle. Overall, a very enjoyable morning!

Visited on a Wednesday evening for a family event. It was spectacular. My children really enjoyed the children's garden. We walked around and enjoyed several waterfalls, an island, bridges, and seeing nature all around. There are restrooms and drinking fountains all around. The sights were beautiful and I strongly recommend this place to other families.

Beautiful gardens with walking paths for all abilities. There are wonderful sculptures and you could spend several hours here admiring the sculptures alone. The gardens are also beautiful, with ponds, waterfalls, walking paths, and benches to enjoy. The indoor greenhouses have so many beautiful plants like cactus, palm, tropical plants and others. This is an amazing oasis to connect with many beautiful plants and natural areas.

What a stunning place!!! Summer concerts are so much fun. Being able to bring your own picnics is a nice bonus. The sculptures, the gardens. You can easily spend an entire day or even two here!

We visited the park on a Tuesday evening, and it was such a wonderful experience. The park is very well taken care of, with beautiful trees and vibrant flowers all around. The people we met were friendly, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a special evening together! We didn’t have time to get all the way through the park, but the Japanese gardens were worth our time.

Wow…what a great experience! Visited in early May (Tulips Festival too). The grounds were immaculate and beautiful. Volunteer staff were so helpful and informative. We saw a couple visiting art exhibits that were amazing. The tram ride around the sculpture gardens was really good. Informative and relaxing.

Absolutely love it here. It's well taken care of and looks and clean. Plenty to see and many accessible paths. Grateful for the Meijers and for everyone who made this place a thing. It does the city of Grand Rapids proud.

The Meyer May House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a beautiful historic home that provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the lives of the rich and famous in Grand Rapids in the early 1900s. The house has been lovingly restored and is open to the public who can get a fascinating glimpse into how people used to live.
Excellent tour and an amazing restoration! The video was very in-depth of exactly everything that went into restoring the house as it was when the May family moved in. Thank you Cheryl for the wonderful tour! Love the enthusiasm of everyone there.

As an admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, I was thrilled to visit the Meyer May House during a trip. Although I couldn’t make it inside during the open hours, I had the opportunity to appreciate its exterior beauty. The house’s lines are a testament to Wright’s architectural genius, seamlessly blending form and function. The planters integrated into the design add his usual charming touch, enhancing the house’s connection with nature. From the outside, it’s appears that the Meyer May House is well-maintained, preserving its historical and aesthetic value which I absolutely adore. I look forward to visiting again and experiencing the interior firsthand.
Kayla-Rae C — Google review
What an informative & enjoyable tour! Our docent shared lots of details over about 45 min inside & outside the home & the 30 min movie had great footage of the restoration. Highly recommend whether you're a Frank Lloyd Wright fan or not!
Joey R — Google review
We loved visiting the Frank Lloyd Wright house that is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The style of the architecture of this home is called 'Prairie' - thus the horizontal lines that anchor the design of this home. It was built in 1908-09 with electric throughout, beautiful detailed glass windows, and other features uncommon back in the early 1900s. It was restored in the 1980s and beautifully so by the Steelcase Company - thank you Steelcase! This house is truly a treasure!
RuthAnn B — Google review
Of all the Wright projects I have seen in person, this has been the best kept and restored one yet. It was a magical and exciting experience to tour this with my university group last month and I highly recommend.
Sara J — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous house and the restoration it took to get it back to this pristine of a condition is absolutely amazing and left me speechless. The tour is free! It starts with a 35 min video on the restoration that Steelcase did to the house after purchasing it and than after, it’s followed by a 45min led tour around the inside and outside of the home. 10/10 would recommend if you can, absolutely worth the time.
Tyler R — Google review
The Meyer May House has been beautifully restored by the Steelcase corporation and is a perfect example of Frank Lloyd Wright's unique residential work at the turn of the century for wealthy clients. The docent for our tour was very knowledgeable and friendly, making for an enjoyable experience.

Beautiful place! You have to go next door to the Visitor's Center sign in and watch a 20 minute video first. Then a guide takes you into the house for about a 45 minute tour. It is a free guided tour.
Nena — Google review
What an amazing experience. A delightfully old mini documentary about the Renovation of The Meyer May House was followed by a vibrant tour of the house. We were expecting a charge, but IT WAS FREE. I absolutely photo dumped in this review, but they don't do it justice. Amazing natural light throughout and breathtaking architecture for its time. A must do for anyone visiting from abroad, or even locals who have yet to take in this historical masterpiece.
Arcaea — Google review
Fantastic experience with my college class. You will want to make reservations well in advance. Limited hours and days (Tuesday, Thursday 10-1 and Sunday) Knowledgeable guides. The video at the start is a bit dated, but it shows the restoration in the mid 1980s and a bit longer than it needs to be. You can watch it at their website. The house is the star attraction. The whole experience is first class. Steelcase has done an out job here. Highly recommended.

An amazing example of history in architectural design. The restoration exhibits true artistry to reveal Frank Lloyd Wright's wonderful attention to detail, the balance of light, and the beauty of his craft. Well worth seeing. Our docent, Jeff, provided insight and a glimpse into the family and the era in which this great house was built. Fantastic!

Wow wow WOW! This tour was awesome! Our docent was so knowledgeable! This wasn’t our first visits to a Frank Lloyd Wright home, and we loved this just as much as the rest. Book a reservation online in advance (it’s the only way to your), but admission is free! It starts with a 35min video about the history and restoration, then you tour the house in great detail. We didn’t feel rushed at all, and all of our questions were answered. Highly recommend this tour to locals and visitors! Also, restroom in the visitor center has a baby changing table! Always appreciated!

This was a very cool place to visit. The details that they went to to fix this place up are mind boggling. A truly beautiful home. We had a fantastic and knowledgeable guide to show us around. And most amazing of all, it's free to tour!

If you're looking for a fun and unique experience, I would highly recommend visiting the Meyer May House. The tour starts at the Visitor Center next door with a 35 minute video about the mid-1980s restoration of the house. From there, the docent will take you into the house for a full tour. In all, it lasted about 90 minutes. Tickets were free (although they should be reserved in advance). Parking was also free and was available on the street near the house.

Tour guides were so knowledgeable and kind, would love to come tour again!

The Meyer May House located in Grand Rapids, Michigan is an amazing example of Frank Loyd Wright's Prairie House designs. While visiting the Grand Rapids area, we took a chance to visit the house and ended up getting a private tour including an informational film about the house and its restoration. The house was originally built in 1908 and after The Meyer house was purchased by Steelcase in 1985 has since been masterfully restored to it's original condition including the structure, furniture, flooring, stained glass and even the table settings which were all designed by the master himself. An absolute must see for any FLW enthusiast. Be sure to call ahead for tour information.
Ray W — Google review
This was amazing. I think that truly made it inspiring is all the technology that Frank Lloyd Wright used that wasn't the norm when he was an architect. He was definitely innovative. I'm so glad that they restored the house and kept so much if the original working. It was an amazing stop on our way home from Saugatuck on a rainy afternoon.

The Van Andel Arena is a 12,000-seat venue located in downtown Grand Rapids and it is often used for big-name concerts and family shows. The arena also hosts big games of basketball, bull riding and other sports. President Barrack Obama was once a guest at an event at the Van Andel Arena.
One of the friendliest concert staff! Even when guests were hard to handle they showed kindness. The stage was super close for my tickets and all the seats looked good to sit in! One of the best times I've ever had! See You Again!

Mid size arena, intimate enough where there's not really a bad seat. Very clean bathrooms. Inside arena no cash is accepted so bring your cards. Downside is, it was 20$ for a drink! Overall its a great venue and ran very well.

Recently went to the Lindsey Stirling Snow Waltz concert here! I've been here many times over the years and it's always a great venue no matter what style of performance. The Lindsey Stirling concert was excellent. She is a truly talented and amazing performer! It seems there's nothing she can't do! Plus, she has a philanthropic heart and message! We need more of that!

This was my first time at Van Andel Arena and all-around my experience was nothing short of amazing. I won early access tickets due to being a GA Floor ticket holder and the staff outside of the venue were very friendly and helpful in finding where I was supposed to go for this. Every person I came in contact with, from security to ticket-staff to the food vendors were all very friendly and pleasant. As for the music, Phish absolutely rocks and I would love to see them back here again. The sound quality was great and there wasn’t a super extensive search coming in, which compared to some other big venues was a nice surprise. The venue itself was very clean and there was reasonably priced parking all around the venue. If I had to give a negative it would be the price for a box of Sno-Caps chocolate was $6.50 which I though was kind of excessive but with it being a specialty item in an arena, beggars can’t be choosers lol All around wonderful experience and I hope to come back and see Phish here again in the future!

Visited for the Grand Rapids Griffins game. Venue was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Large food selection from affordable in-hand snacks up to extreme stadium buckets. Merchandise was a bit pricey but no more than anywhere else.

I went and saw the concert Styx and Foreigner. I wasn't able to watch the final show-Styx; however, the sound was decent. Foreigner band stated they had lack of money to put on a great show. Stated they were on a financial budget. Foreigner played good but it did seem to me that the Lead Singer was tired. Tired in the aspect of impressing live shows in performance. I am uncertain to why the Lead Singer bent over to show the crowd his butt. To me that was a bit odd.The Light Show for Foreigner was cool. I especially enjoyed the drummers' performance at the end of the show.I spent $40.00 on my ticket, which, the event was almost or sold out completely. I do know some tickets went as high as $100.00 each. Like the band, I was also on a budget.I think I would attend more concerts at Van Andel Arena in the future if tickets were $40-$50 each. I cannot afford $300-$500 tickets. I hope singers and/or famous people understand that most working class families can't afford hundred dollar tickets.Sincerely, Miss Keller

They are very organized to help people get in and to their seats easily and quickly. Seats are fairly small and tight, but I suppose that is normal in an arena. Most seats do not have cupholders. Drinks are pricey and so is food, but you get great portions, making it worth it. Pretty large and clean bathrooms (at least at the beginning of the event!) But there are still usually lines (like at any large event).

Sound person needs some training. Lighting straight in my face the whole show was annoying. Everything was well organized though. Clean bathrooms. I had a great time

Very disappointing experience. Seats small & cramped…and worn out. Went to see Alan Jackson and chose seats were we only had a few steps to floor due to bad knees. The usher refused to let me on the floor even after I explained my situation. But those in the floor had full access to roam up & down the stairs. When we went to leave she tried to stop me again and when i ignored her she started screaming that she had a mortgage to pay, I calmly told her she could also pay for my knee replacements due to the stairs. Then we ignored her and left. the Van Andel Karen is not doing this place any favors. Be on the watch for her.

It was a great experience at the inaugural season opener for Grand Rapids Rise pro volleyball last night at Van Andel! ❤🧡💛🏐 Tickets sold out and it was packed! They introduced Ember, their new mascot, too! One area of improvement: letting us in the door and then waiting for 5 minutes before getting our tickets scanned to find our seats was a little clustered and awkward, but once we got settled in, it was great! Can't wait to watch more pro volleyball!
Courtney K — Google review
Pretty much everything is great except the drink prices. Probably one or the most expensive venues I've been to in a long time.$5 water and $20 adult beverages. Just wild.

We went to see AJR’s Maybe Man Tour here on April 14th, 2024! It was phenomenal. The sound was great, the security workers and ushers gave a very positive and safe experience. The seats on the floor are VERY close together but it doesn’t matter when you’re having the time of your life.

Van Andel Arena, Home of the Grand Rapids Griffins! A nice big arena, easily spotted from the roadside! Parking can be tricky but don't get discouraged! Plenty of events take place here including but not limited to; Ice Hockey, Monster Jam, Pro Wrestling, Concerts, etc. Prices vary for each event, check out their website for more details!

Been here for Hockey games and concerts. This is a really great arena in which to watch your favorite bands and sporting events.I love the upper seating in rows A and B. Great views.I am a bigger guy so some of the seats are more cramped than others. If you are of larger persuasion spend the money for better seats, they can be a bit to squeeze between the cup holders.Completely cashless for transactions which is nice and speeds up the lines. Being able to order ahead at the concessions from your phone is a cool perk as well.
Steven S — Google review
10/10 Handicap accessible and Handicap Friendly! This venue has greatly improved over the years. I'm impressed with their customer service, security, and guest services. Guest Services have been terrific, reassigning me and my companion to barrier free seating. I love seeing band boosters running some Concessions.

Went for a griffins game today and was not disappointed. Excellent facilities and extremely worth the money. Fast paced hard hitting fun with all sorts of interaction with the crowd for all ages. If you haven't been go. Even if your not a (hockey person) you will have alot of fun.

Of all the concerts I've been to, this arena was the best. Never had to wait in line for a drink and the sound was fantastic here. No seats are bad. I'll never go to a concert at Ford Field after going here. It's worth the two hour drive for me.

Area was great but be ready to pay up to 30.00 to park. Drinks were 7.50 non alcohol ones. It all looked good. Carly , Tim and Heartreckers were a 10.

Went to see For King and Country. It was a really nice space for this. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, it was easy to find where we needed to be, and there was a nice parking garage close by. Concession food was OK. Nothing fancy. The setup was good as well. There didn't seem to be any really bad seats. The whole family had a lot of fun.

The Grand Rapids Art Museum is a world-class museum that features a diverse collection of art spanning various centuries. There are drop-in studio programs for children that allow them to experience art first hand, and occasional musical concerts are also held. Whether you're looking to enjoy some classical music or explore some of the latest paintings, the GRAM is sure to have something for you.
The Grand rapids art museum was surprisingly nice. It has an extensive array of art. It has a lovely layout and modern feel. It's pieces range from hundreds of years ago to quite recent. I would not recommend it for a typical child or group of children. But it would be lovely for a group of friends or a date night. The staff is nice, the energy is calm, and the art is comparable to that of larger city art museums, though I'll admit the collection is smaller.

Visited on a Thursday evening and admission was free. We parked across the street at Monroe Parking Garage and parking there under 60 minutes is also free. It was both of my children's first visit. We started in the activity center room where they got to participate in interactive hands-on activities and LOVED ot. They created sculptures and curated a magnetic frame wall. There were other activities throughout the museum, which they enjoyed. The paintings and art were wonderful and I'm so glad I was able to share that special experience with my children, especially for free!Strongly recommend!

We visited the GRAM specifically for the Jim Henson exhibit but, of course, walked the entire gallery, appreciating all the beautiful art work. Personally, it was a very interesting exhibit with stories and sketch art that I'd never otherwise know existed let alone see and read! So glad we caught it before it moved on!

Giving this place 4 stars because they had free admission on a Thursday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. I'll say I did kinda like the design of the building, but was not that impressed with the art work. It just didn't seem like they had any really old works of art. Overall, I'll say they had about 3 pieces I was impressed with. One thing I was definitely not impressed with was free tampons in the men's restroom. What in the hell is this world coming to?

Went there on a Thursday evening (it's free on Thursday evenings from 5-8) and thought it was wonderful. The permanent collection is lovely, the temporary exhibits are well thought out and impeccably presented, and the staff is super nice and helpful. Not to mention the cool vibes of being in a museum at night!

I really enjoyed this museum. Some beautiful and captivating art, however, I don’t feel that this museum is in the same bracket as the DIA or UMMA. If you enjoy art and you’re in the area though, I would check it out. Jay at the information desk was very helpful and suggested I go from the top floor down. The architecture of the building itself is beautiful as well.

If you had asked me to review the GRAM 20 years ago, I would’ve probably given it a three star. However, in the last decade or so, it has changed over immensely! They have an amazing permanent collection, and the exhibitions they bring in throughout the year Are amazing! It’s incredible to their education department is Outstanding! I highly recommend if you’re visiting Grand Rapids to make this a stop. I do miss their dip store, though which closed a couple years ago under the new renovation. The photos below are from the Jim Henson collection. They did a year or so ago.

This is a cool art museum! It’s bigger than it looks on the inside and although there aren’t many exhibits they are cool and seem to have rotating exhibits. They had a scavenger hunt for legos when I went! A couple of interactive things too.

I've lived in the area for 6 years now, and just got around to visiting the art museum for the first time. I thought it was really nice. I loved the stained glass exhibit. If anything, I wish it was bigger. We had a great time looking through the galleries. They were also doing a special promotion while we were there so for the next year we can come any/every Saturday for free! Will definitely be back.

This place is awesome. They regularly have a wide variety of interesting and diverse art exhibits so even if you’re going every few months, you’re still seeing a whole new museum. It is wheelchair accessible, portable, and a great date spot too. If you’ve never been or just visiting in town, this is a great spot to check out!good access to parking and food options too.

Fantastic Museum! As a visitor from the U.K. this is one of the best museums I have visited in the USA over the many years travelling here. I was in town for a conference and had a couple of hours of downtime beforey last session and dinner. Since it was free admissions Thursday and I love museums I decided to pop in for a quick visit. The museum isn't huge but very well curated. Start with the permanent collection on the third floor and work your way down and don't be surprised if you discover new favorite artists/pieces along the way, and hidden gems like a Picasso sculpture and a drawing by Matisse. Will definitely visit again!

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is a large museum with exhibits on history, science, and culture. It has a 1928 carousel as well as an exhibit about the natural habitats in West Michigan.

We had a great time visiting all of the exhibits. Lots of things are interactive and keep you interested. Our favorite part was definitely the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibit. It was just like walking through an old town! Lots of detail and effort went into the exhibit, and it definitely showed. The only thing we weren’t able to check out was the historic carousel. The carousel was unfortunately closed when we visited. Overall it was a wonderful experience!

We had an excellent time at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. It was very insightful and the kids really enjoyed the robot zoo exhibit! There where games in the lobby and informative exhibits. Place was very clean, workers where helpful and kind amd we highly suggest this for all age groups. There was free validated parking in ramp with purchase of tickets, food court, planetarium, video arcade and even a great view of downtown Grand Rapids. Highly suggest everyone visits with the family!

Always an awesome experience, and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas 🎄🎁 I have always loved going here since I was a kid. I decided to take my nephew to see the bug exhibit and he had an amazing time. The only negative I can say is the person we experienced at the cash register in the cafe had no personality and was quite unwelcoming.

I recently attended a private company function at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and was thoroughly impressed by the venue and its offerings. The highlight of my visit was the awe-inspiring whale skeleton that dominates the main hall. This magnificent display sets a grand tone as you enter and provides a fascinating glimpse into marine life.In stark contrast, the retro arcade section offers a delightful trip down memory lane. It was a joy to engage with classic arcade games, adding a fun and nostalgic element to the evening. The juxtaposition of these two exhibits underscores the museum's diverse appeal. The event itself was exceptionally well-managed. The museum staff were professional and attentive, ensuring that all aspects of the function ran smoothly. The combination of an intriguing environment and top-notch service makes the Grand Rapids Public Museum an excellent choice for private events. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place to spend a day. We arrived and were able to get a parking place by the museum. The museum had just opened for the day and general admission was a very reasonable price for 3 floors of exploring history and science. We spent several hours exploring all 3 floors! My favorite exhibits were "Finny" the finback whale skeleton. Then there was Old Streets of Grand Rapids and the Old Camper Trailer.Definitely another trip back to the museum will be in order.

Was pleasantly surprised by this museum, It was a great size, I easily spent 2 hours there but could have been there longer if I didn’t have to go somewhere after. I love that it is location history so you can see fossils found in the region, history of who has lived in the region, and a glimpse into what the area looked like. Walking through the remake of the city with old businesses felt like I traveled through time. I’ve never seen anything like it. I like the diversity of this museum. Things I didn’t expect to see there was a Nelson Mandela exhibition, history on textiles and fashion, and so many native (preserved) animals I’ve never seen before. The gift shop was also great. It didn’t just have toys and typical souvenirs. It had a lot more that I was interested in buying including items from local vendors and artists.

Phenomenal place to take kids or grandkids and learn about history. The city of Grand Rapids history, along with the natural history of the area. It includes some amazing fossils found in the area, and full 3-D dioramas of different ecological niches, from a single drop of pond water blown up to 3 feet across, to wetlands complete with above and below water viewing. Elevators make easy access to all floors with stroller. Quiet areas around a outlet theater if your kids need a break. Also a very nice cafe. Beautiful site on the river downtown, and if you park in the structure across the street and take your parking ticket inside with you, the museum will validate it so the parking won't cost you anything. Highly recommend.

I was afraid there wouldn't be enough for my grandkids, 2 and 4 years old, to do here, but after 3 hours, they begged to stay longer. The builder exhibit was a huge hit, and although the bug exhibit was a little scary for the 2 year old, there were parts that were fun for her, too. They also loved the habitat and animal exhibits. What a GR treasure!

Love taking my kids here, decently priced, lots to do. They lost one star because the new exhibit, the Robot Zoo, had multiple out of order exhibits, so that took away from the interactive part. Still would highly recommend!

very underwhelming museum, would be good to take children. the gentleman who presented the shows while very nice, wasn't very charismatic. would not recommend unless you're bringing kids..

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is an amazing place to visit! It's filled with fascinating artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays that showcase the history and culture of the area. From ancient artifacts to immersive exhibits about nature and local history, there's something for everyone to enjoy and learn from.

Our kids loved the museum been years since we have went but took our neice and nephew. They had some great time with interactive exhibits the old Grand Rapids street with shops never thought I would see an Arcade in a museum as an exhibit makes me feel old but definitely fun to watch the kids play our favorite games. Still glade to see the whale skeleton and airplane hanging from the ceiling, there's a lot going on in the public museum it's a gem of Grand Rapids for sure. If your on vacation with little kids I'm sure they will enjoy it as much as we did.

I loved visiting this museum and seeing all the items they have collected and curated over the years. I can't wait to go back and see more of what the planetarium has to offer and listen again to the beautiful music played in the music hall.

The Gerald Ford Presidential Museum tells the story of Gerald Ford, 38th president of the United States, and his wife. The museum has exhibits about their lives and presidency, as well as rotating exhibits that focus on American history.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum! The museum touches on so many aspects of Gerald Ford's life and career.I would say that about one-third of the museum has exhibits focusing on his life and career before his presidency, and then another third of exhibits focus on the events of his presidency. The last third of museum space incorporates separate, smaller spaces dedicated to Betty Ford, the funeral of Gerald Ford, the USS Gerald Ford, and the Berlin Wall.Overall, the museum is definitely worth visiting, and it was perhaps one of my favorite places to visit during my trip to Western Michigan. Lastly, I can't ignore that the free parking is a nice bonus!

It was fabulous! A very moving experience, especially if you lived during his administration. I was in junior and senior high school, and it brought back so many memories. In addition to the well presented history, there are replicas of the oval office and cabinet room. I also loved the focus on his lovely wife, Betty, and her contributions , especially her sharing of her breast cancer with everyone.
Cheri B — Google review
The museum was decent; it was well maintained, it had some interesting history and information not only about former President Gerald Ford but also several pivotal moment of his presidency. The biggest problem is with the man himself, I personally didn't find him that fascinating of a president and his tenure was largely short and unnoteworthy aside from his near-disastrous pardoning of Richard Nixon.Still the museum and staff were great and the recreations of the Oval office and other presentations are immersive and faithfully recreated.

Very crisp and clean museum that answers ALL your questions about the only U.S. President to become Vice President and President without being elected into these offices.Costs is $13.00 for adults (at the time of reviewing) but there are discounts for seniors and students. There is a gift shop with related materials, and a theatre which reviews the circumstances of the times Gerald R. Ford was in office.Gerald R. Ford and his wife, Betty, are entombed next to the Museum. There is a free parking lot with paid admission.

The only Presidential museum in Michigan, and what an amazing adventure! As we entered the parking area,we didn't have any trouble finding a place to park. Nicely landscaped, situated on the banks of the Grand River. The entrance fees are very reasonable starting at 12.00 general, 10.00 for Sr, 6 - 18yr6.00.There are 3 exhibits to view at this time: 1976 Presidential Election, A Heartbeat Away ,The American Vice Presidecy, and Exploring Watergate.Took over 3.5 hours to walk through and was very educational.

To me it became apparent the building of character starts in the early stages of life. At home he learned many important life lessons that guided him along in life.Compared to the situation in the USA today I read the same words Freedom, healer and uniting the people needed again today and bringing the character back to America. It seems not so much has changed over the years, despite the different approaches the issues may have.Steadfast, upholding principles and guiding other people along are key words I take away from the visit.

We love to visit presidential museums as we travel. Downtown Grand Rapids is absolutely gorgeous and the Ford Museum is a must see. The place is huge, the staff is friendly and the displays are very well done. Expect to stay 2-3 hours to see and read everything. Parking is plentiful, even for a RV.
Jon S — Google review
They have free parking at the property for visits. A great museum indeed. You may even find unique artifacts to see such as a can of air from Indiana, lol. An informative parade of information and informative videos throughout the president's life as well as others including the first lady. At the end there is a respectful remembrance of life that overlooks the grave site. That too is a must to pay respects to a president of this nation. The water features outside were not working and part of the gardens were bare. It is well worth the time and money. Don't forget the gift shop.

We visited with another couple on a Sunday in early April of 2023 and this museum was wonderful. The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is the presidential museum and burial place of Gerald Ford, the 38th president of the United States (1974–1977), and his wife Betty Ford. It is located near the Pew Campus of Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The parking was free. We arrived as soon as they opened and obtained tickets with no waiting. We definitely recommend this as a must stop! Admission was very reasonable and the exhibits were outstanding from videos to artifacts of his life and presidency. We proceeded up the stairs to a well arranged exhibit hall. The special event at this time was "Guitars and a Changing Nation, America at the Crossroads"We would definitely go back at a later date.

Very nice presidential museum. We've been to Clinton's, Johnson's, and Reagan's prior. Exhibits were very informative and nicely created. Located on beautiful grounds near downtown Grand Rapids and river. Be sure to visit President and Mrs. Fords' gravesites adjacent to the museum (free to do so). Discounts given for seniors (62+) and veterans. FREE PARKING adjacent to facility!! Seemed like a safe area, including parking lot. Downtown Grand Rapids seemed very clean and safe as well. We spent over 3 hours there. Worth the stop.

Highly recommended presidential library. Inexpensive, beautifully maintained, and interesting architecture. It's not overwhelmingly large. Plus, the videos and 70's artifacts are fascinating. Loved the exact replica of the oval office and the cabinet board room!

First, let’s get rid of any confusion. This is the Presidential museum and burial site for the 38th POTUS. The presidential library is in Ann Arbor.Yes, you read that right. His remains and that of his wife’s are here on the grounds of the facility. That was the first thing that we learned as we arrived.Very modern building with very interesting history and instructional exhibits. We were impressed from the get go. The replicas of the Oval Office and Cabinet Room are very cool.Plenty of free parking and of course there’s a souvenir shop. They do have a discount for active military, veterans and first responders.

Beautiful location, great information. The information on Betty Ford and her contributions nearly overshadow her husband. The VP exhibit was very informative.

I've been to two presidential libraries. If you like history, there is no better place to go than a presidential library and this one is no exception. I learned so much about a president that I was unaware of before. This library has the facts about our president from his birth to his death and every major event in between. I highly recommend this be on your vacation plans.

What a great spot! Whoever wrote the descriptions on the things you read throughout did a great job at keeping it interesting. I liked the cabinet table (which you get to sit at). Really puts everything in perspective. Well worth the price of admission.Buy tickets when you walk in. Plenty of free parking.

This is a true gem and a must visit museum. I learned so much about President Gerald. R. Ford. Here, you can find his oval office, his desk, and personal items. There is the first ceude oil sample extracted from Alaska, which was an important step for the American energy industry. I was amazed. There's no kids area, though they have a scavenger hunt for kids, and in the end, they can exchange it for a small prize. Which is very helpful to keep them entertained. Highly recommend this place.

Even though I lived thru this period it was great to review it again. We've come so far and Ford did much to heal our nation. The exhibit about the other Vice Presidents was amazing history. Too often, if not always, the Veep was only a footnote on our memory. This is our fifth presidential library/museum. It's amazing the lack of recent history we were never taught in school that has so much bearing on the world we live in today.

Amazing place to spend a few hours with the family to soak up some history. We learned more at our visit to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library than we thought was possible. My entire family enjoyed our time here with exhibits that are both educational and entertaining. I would put this location on your list of things to do in Grand Rapids.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed visiting the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum. The museum tells a wonderful story of a boy who grew into a man of strength, knowledge and integrity. A man of character who was in the right place at the right time to lead our nation through a very hard time. This is a great place to visit!

We had such a great time exploring the zoo! It's so different in its layout and has so many animals to see. The staff was friendly and helpful. We missed the tram as it wasn't operational but it looks super fun! This place will also definitely wear your kids out!

People are super nice, very knowledgeableNice animal displays, you could touch the stingrays, starfish among others. The shark movie was OK could be a little more entertaining. Bringing a hat because you will be getting wet at the shark movie. Overall I think I definitely would recommend this place.

Unique zoo built into the landscape! Quite a variety of animals due to the size of the zoo! Plenty of amenities as you go around with regards to food, drinks, restrooms. Tons of extra and events being hosted as well. Able to get pretty close on most exhibits so viewing the animals is pretty consistent. Definitely worth the trip!

We always have a great time at John Ball Zoo. It is a small enough zoo that you can see everything even with young kids. We went during the week with my child's school and it was crazy busy as there were a few other schools there too. The line to get a ticket moved pretty slow so if you can get a ticket ahead of time that would be best.

The prices felt high, but I love support zoos and the conservation work they do,so it was easy to get over. The new pygmy hippo enclosure it really cool. If you are in the area I absolutely recommend you go. I also love all the different experiences they bring to the zoo. They have had awesome lego sculptures in the past. The most recent visit they had giant dinosaurs through out which my girls loved.

Visited on Kids Day after the event had ended. It was our first time at the zoo so we weren't sure what to expect. The bathrooms were plentiful, several drinking fountains and places to eat, and tons of benches all around. We especially enjoyed the petting zoo, the butterfly house, and the waterfall. They offer camel rides. They also have a rope course. Another nice thing was all the zoo employees everywhere were extremely kind, friendly, and helpful. They constantly offered information and told us the names of animals. Despite carefully reviewing the map, we had to ask for directions often, which they were happy to assist with. The reptile house had several empty exhibits, which was sad. Overall, I think they prioritized giving the animals lots of space rather than having a ton of different animals. It's organized well but very easy to get lost. The train was closed. We will definitely return and hopefully experience the train and take a camel ride.

Drove 3hrs (including potty breaks). Love this zoo. Animals have plenty of space in their exhibit. Not overly crowded on a Saturday morning. Will definitely be back next summer!

I am really happy with the way they set up this dinosaur experience and the kids weren't really disappointed either. So this was a very important part of our start to the school year. Me and my step son did his first research and research with the point of having stuff to talk mom into going with. So it worked and it was a trip. I was just as happy as the kids. No doubt a must see.

Great Zoo. Beautiful walking paths with a lot to see. We went morning weekday. Started to get busier at the end of our journey. It took us around 3 hours. 3 adults and 2 youth was $100. We brought a backpack cooler with water. Plenty of restrooms and places to eat and drink. We paid for 3 people to ride the Camel and we're forced to have 2 of the 3 ride together. They said it was starting to get busy even though there were only 4 people behind in line. Made our taking pictures of each person on a camel for our collage wall not as desirable and still paid full Price for all 3 to ride. There is a disclaimer that says if they are busy you may be forced to ride with another rider. Wasn't excited about that. We watched the bear get fed which was cool. Still a great morning or afternoon stop. The dinosaur exhibits were an added bonus. 👌

Great layout, and they kept the animals together from the same regions, which was cool. Had a zip line, petting zoo with goats and camel riding for the kids, which was pretty cool. Even had a dinosaur exhibit for the little ones. I'd definitely recommend it for all ages. The lines weren't long, and we got tickets right at the gate without a wait. There was no need to pre-order on a Monday at 1, but it might be different if you go during the weekend.

Not a big fan of Zoos but I like to think they can be beneficial to these animals (maybe they're injured or what have you). The place is nice and clean and there's staff everywhere so you're never far from assistance for directions or events going on.Speaking of events, the zoo also has all sorts of events that go on like the dinosaur animatronics, lantern festival or Halloween theme events.Overall, the place is a nice place to take your kids or even a date.

This is a small zoo with a big attitude. I was surprised how much was packed in this zoo. Also, they were set up for Lantern Nights (running through mid June. I look forward to going back again. It's a great zoo for little ones because you can get through the zoo before they melt down. Many of the exhibits can be seen from multiple sides. There are also different activities like zip lines, rides, etc. for an extra fee.

Nice zoo, relatively small. Looks like built around a hill, so you will be in a hiking mode. Good for kids, specially they enjoy butterfly room, aquarium and grizzly bear. Chimpanzee deck was nice too. 3 hrs should be enough for the visit.

Very good zoo. The exhibits are vice and the animals have adequate space. Would recommend going if you are in the area. We went while they were having a Dino exhibit and my children really loved the robotic Dino’s. My children enjoyed the camel ride. The zip line is cool as well. The aquarium was probably the least favorite part.

This place is a must to go if you're here. Awesome zoo. Nice and clean. But i would recommend go early. We got there a bit later in the day and it was hot so Mr. Mufasa and some other animals were taking naps. Great experience.

This is one of the saddest zoos I've ever been to. The animal enclosures are very small. We went on a nice cool day most of the animals still were not there and the ones that were just look sad. Even the Monkees don't move around and play. The dinosaur exhibit was the funnest part for the kids. Do better John Ball! I was out over $40 to see a handful of animals.
Dawn R — Google review
First time visiting this zoo. We went for the Lantern Festival which was amazing! Would highly recommend visiting! It was a unique experience. The zoo did a great job of closing off any paths that weren’t included in the festival. It made it easy to know where to go. Tickets are on a timed entry. I would recommend buying tickets for a time after sunset. We had an entry time of 7:30 so we spent over an hour of the festival in daylight. Although enjoyable anyway, it was considerably more exciting in the dark. Also, go later if you don’t want to hear 100 crying, whining children. Families with small children were the majority of the earlier entries. The lantern festival runs through June.

Located in downtown Holland, Windmill Island Gardens features tulip gardens from all over the world, a 250-year-old windmill, a carousel, and Dutch-costumed guides. The gardens are open to the public and cost $12 per person. There is also a gift shop and food available.
Sincerely thought I posted a review for this place already. Super cute! Very touristy. The windmill was transported from legit Holland. The photos really say it all. It's not expensive to get in unless you are paying for a while group. I think it was like $15 a person, but I can't remember exactly. Great for a touristy walk, and some cute photos.

This was more enjoyable than I had originally thought. The flowers were beautiful. Can't even imagine what it would look like when the tulips are in bloom. The gift ship was small and quaint and the carousel was being enjoyed by kids. The outdoor organ was fun. I even saw a few teens dancing and having fun being silly. That was really nice. The windmill was beautiful and going inside to hear the history from one of the employees was worth it.

Great place to just walk around. We came to see the Tulips. We climbed up inside the windmill. It is an interesting museum and garden. It's worth the price, because of the amount of time and work it must take to take care of this place.

The tulips were stunning. It was wildly windy so when we made it to the top of the windmill the outdoor observation area was closed, but safety. Lots of fun facts around the park, tons of photo ops and a great selection in the gift shop.

What a fantastic garden and windmill. The windmill was purchased and shipped over from the Netherlands, so it's the real deal, and the knowledgeable staff are clearly proud that Holland calls it home. The garden was gorgeous in bloom, and I loved the emphasis on pollinators. There are plenty of great spots for photos. It's a fantastic place for a lovely stroll.

The well-maintained pathways and thoughtfully designed flower beds made it a joy to explore every corner of this beautiful park.In addition to the stunning tulips, the gardens feature a variety of other flowers and plants, making it a delightful place for nature lovers and photographers alike. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, providing interesting insights into the history and horticulture of the gardens.Overall, Windmill Island Gardens is a must-visit destination in May. We visited after tulip season but before memorial Day and it was lovely. No tulips out, but still plenty of pretty plants and no crowds to connect with. Great family experience - we have a toddler and older teen and they both enjoyed it. Prices were very reasonable. Lots of great picture opportunities.

Our first time experiencing Tulip Time in Holland was truly a memorable one. As we arrived to witness the beauty of the tulips, we were taken aback by the crowds, but thankfully the lines moved quickly. Although some of the tulips had already started to wither, we still found joy in exploring the colorful displays and taking pictures among them. Additionally, we indulged in some shopping at the charming shops and savored the lively atmosphere with live music playing in the background. Overall, despite the unexpected crowds and slightly wilted flowers, we cherished our time at Tulip Time in Holland.

Windmill island gardens**Stop! Are you looking for the famous Tulip Garden? This is it.**Our first time coming here. Not how I envision it but good. People glorify the images but in reality it’s a tame environment. I was expecting a magnificent display of tulips all over. In reality, they are planted in sections and in limited quantities. The windmill is huge! The area is surround by a small stream which must be used for watering the tulips. The bathrooms are located in the main building which is nice. No outhouses or porta potty. No need for extra smells to ruin the smell of tulips. They do have ONE food stand which serves a decent amount of different foods.I strongly suggest you come before the festival, because when it arrives, there is basically no parking spot available.Come and enjoy the tulips.Highly recommended

Lots of beautiful flowers. Friendly service. Wish there were more walking paths to get from one area to another. Ended up walking in wet grass a few times. A few empty fields (filled with tulips earlier in the season)

I liked this little park. It had some nice gardens of flowers and plants. It was interesting to learn how the windmill made its way to Michigan and also climb the stairs to the different levels. I missed the tulips which was something I really wanted to see. Some thoughts:$12 per person is too much. I've been to far more impressive gardens and better walking paths at no cost. Holland residents can get in free, at least.Using that restroom was a terrible experience. For that entrance fee they charge, they should be able to invest in the bathroom.
Heather B — Google review
More fun than we expected. 4 adults and 3 teenagers. Friendly staff. We watched the 2 educational videos first, saw the vintage self playing organ, then toured the windmill. The gift shop had a nice cheese sampling area, and a place to try on wood shoes. Lots to shop for. Would love to come again during the tulip season.

Just Wooow. What a place to enjoy Tulips fields! We were here during Tulip Time festival. Even though Tulips bloomed and died a week in advance there were still few fields which had beautiful Tulips welcoming visitors. Even though this place is great place to enjoy tulips, it is more than that. Even if you visit it other times of the year, one of kind Dutch Windmill is good enough of a reason to visit the Windmill Island Gardens.Tip: During Tulip time, visit this place just 1-2 hours before the sunset to avoid crowd. More than that, lighting conditions will be best for photography.

My husband and I had seen Holland, Michigan and the Dutch Village on social media, so we did some research. It looked like a really interesting place. We took my parents and 2-year-old. It was awesome for the price of the tickets. There were a number of different opportunities for kids to drive tractors or other little attractions. There was also a small Ferris wheel, carousel, swings, and a petting zoo. My daughter loved it. Overall, a great experience, especially with kids!

You can walk a goat. You can go inside a chicken coop with the birds.Dutch village is amazing for everyone in your group. A group of 23 of us took a day trip and came to the Dutch Village in Holland, Michigan. Many of the tulips are gone,, But we still had shopping, coffee shops, rides on the ferris wheel and other rides, and we all watched the last dance performance by a group of dancers depicting Dutch dancing. Some of our group even participated in one of the dances! That was fun to watch. A great day at the Dutch Village! Thank you, Dutch Village for your friendliness and kindness! Enjoyable day!!

This little village was cute, had a great gift shop, food and activities for small children. The rides are dated and meant for children but it was all part of the experience. The place is so cute and plenty of opportunities for photos!

I would recommend taking your younger kids here.

Fun little place. Interesting selection of merchandise and food products to browse and purchase. Cool that they do demos of things like cheese making and wooden shoe making and traditional dance, etc.Entrance fee is a bit high based on the available activities that are included once inside, but nothing crazy. Worth a stop to check it out with the family. Looks like they are adding some new attractions as well including axe throwing.

Our family and us hung out there and spent the day. We have kids so this was perfect place for them to do and learn. Not badly priced too. So many other things to do, like tour an old fashion Dutch school room, cheese tasting, wooden shoe carving and souvenir shops.

There’s more fun things for the kids to do!We loved the petting farm specially the chickens🫶🏻.You have to try the freshly made Wafers next to the fudge store. We appreciate all the costumes, the dancing show and all the hard work from each and every person that works here.Coming to this place has become a tradition now!

Beautiful little slice of Holland. Good food, especially cheeses. Great entertainment for the kids. The young staff there really put their heart into their roles. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting. Don’t miss the Klompendans dancers!

very fun place for children, for a group of 4 it was around 60. rides for the kids that are not extra. they can ride all day. the food is amazing and priced well. they have beer, wine, great cheese. the best ride is the manual train car that kids really love. will definitely go back and around the area is a couple antique shops

Fun experience! Only place we could find with parking for Tulip Time. Tried to go to Windmill island gardens twice this same day, but the lot was full both times. We enjoyed the tulips and decorations. There were free cheese samples out at the cheese store. There are several rides that adults can ride, but it looked like they were mostly for kids. The petting zoo was fun. Animal food cones were a $1. We enjoyed the Dutch dancing. Staff were friendly. Would recommend.

Totally worth every penny and more. All of the activities are included with learning sessions. My family had a great time. Fun for kids and adults.

Hung out here on a cloudy afternoon in Holland, MI and I feel like it’s important to commend young employees that really take pride in their position. Most of the kids working here were all dressed for their part and from the dance squad to the merry go round you could tell they spent a lot of time getting the park ready for patrons. The park was clean and well maintained. Everyone was very knowledgeable and everyone we talked to always had a smile and kind words to share. Thanks to all!

This is a really cute, quaint, local "theme park" located within Holland. It is set up to look like a mini-Netherlands, with lots of lessons and activities available to entertain a variety of audiences, especially children. Having been to Amsterdam before, there were a couple of moments when I found myself being reminded of that part of the world as we explored this park. The people that work here are very warm and friendly, and they work hard to maintain the park's overall theme. This park is a great place to visit if you are on a field trip, or if you are visiting with family that has (younger) kiddos!

Nice place to enjoy with family. Especially for children’s . So many activities ,rides. If you are planning a trip is better to buy tickets online. (Online $16) otherwise $18per head. Also you can enjoy the Dutch dance performance as well as lessons.

I’m glad I didn’t listen to the negative comments and went to check it out myself. My husband and I went today and had a great time. Lots of great demonstrations and even got free samples. Loved learning about the Dutch history. Bought tickets online $16/person.

Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground

The Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground is a popular spot for visitors to West Michigan. The campground has paved bike trails with views of the sunset and offers shopping opportunities for souvenirs. A highlight of the area is the iconic Big Red lighthouse, which provides a stunning view of Lake Michigan and the sand dunes. While the campground may be tight quarters and primarily geared towards RVs, it does offer amenities such as bathrooms and showers in the center of the grounds.
Beautiful State park with a pier and lighthouse, nice sand dunes and beautiful long grasses cover the dunes, has a large bathroom area and changing rooms and outdoor showers, an area to watch the boats go in and out of Lake Michigan and two walking paths to help you get all of your gear out to the beach. There is a small kids park with swings and volleyball nets. Been coming here for 35 years and I still love it!

First time I've been here and would definitely stay here again. I tent camped with my daughter for two nights. Felt the sites were a good size. Some reviews state that the sites are close together, which is true. We had our own space, but if you are looking for a private and quiet area away from people, this probably isn't the place for you.For us it was nice as there were plenty of families there when we stayed here, so my daughter was able to make friends and hang out with other kids. There is a small beach on Lake Macatawa right outside the entrance to the campground, which is nice if you want a quick swim or to avoid a bigger crowds down at the main beach. The main beach is just up the road about a mile and is easy to get to, even if you would bike down there.Bathrooms and showers were clean. Camp sites were clean and never saw any garbage from those who were camping there. There was even a strong storm system that moved through one morning we were there and still didn't see anything that blew around. There is a great shop just up the street you can walk to if you need anything. They have some fantastic ice cream there as well!

Tent camped for an only 1 night and didn’t have a good experience. Site was all dirt and on a hill making it almost impossible to get comfortable. Site was pretty large compared to others. Neighbors were all nosy, wish we could have had more privacy. Park was very family friendly, lots to do around the town so location was a plus. Bathrooms were clean, showers were nice. Front office not very helpful.

Not a great state park. Location is the best part. The sites are tiny and on top of each other. No privacy. It's super crowded. No full hookups, only electric. All dirt and sand, and not level. 200 sites and only two bathrooms, with 3 toilets each, means a waiting line EVERY time. Lots of kids, so the bathrooms are filthy. Although they do clean twice a day. The fairgrounds and an RV park down the road are better choices.

Check in is at 3:00 and they are not flexible on the time. You will need to have photo identification and your license plate number at check in. There is no alcohol allowed and you are required to initial that you understand this. I did see drinking and smelt marijuana so I'm not sure how strict this policy is. I was at site 179. Sites 1 through 116 have a new shower/restroom building which is very nice and updated. Several of the sites on that side have trees surrounding the sites for a lot of privacy and shade. Sites 117 through 211 have out dates showers but is clean. The water shuts off after 10-15 seconds so you need to keep pushing the button. Several sites have no or smaller trees and little privacy. There's a small dog path which my dog loved. Both sides have newer small playgrounds. The host has books and magazines out for sharing . They also have chalk and cute homemade firestarters and a rack of information books for local activities. There's very nice side walks on the main strip for walking and biking with lighted cross walks for crossing the road. The park is quiet at night. The dump station is kept up very nicely. It's near the entrance so it's convenient for full up and dumping . I will definitely be coming here again.

Just visited the beach and looked at the lighthouse. Lighthouse, to be honest, is cute but it's across a small channel and kinda small. I don't know if the lighthouse itself is worth going to the park for. But the beach is gorgeous and sandy, there's a snack shack which sells drinks, burgers, hot dogs, and fries (and other things). There's a cool jetty you can walk out onto. Lots of parking as well! Just be warned that the water is cold. Was there 7/6 and it was 67 degrees F.

It’s a nice state park in the middle of everything. Dune Dogz, the general store, the beach, and others all within walking distance. Trails and dunes to hike. There’s a small beach across the street on an inner lake and Lake Michigan is not far. About 10 minutes walking. The campground is fine, but if you don’t like being by a busy road and close to your neighbors then this is not the one. The bathrooms and shower house were nice facilities I just wish there were more shower + toilet rooms. I personally wouldn’t stay here again because it’s not remote enough for me, it felt more like being in an outdoor hotel in a city than camping.

We stay at 2-3 state park campgrounds each summer. This one was one of the best. For our family it was the beautiful beach we could easily ride bikes to down a paved path from our campsite. Our lot was average. The loop we were in had a small playground area and very close to a hike up the dunes to overlook the beach!2 ice cream shops a 2 minute walk away.No issues with rowdy groups, animals, or anything else that can make camping less than desirable.I would really like to return for more camping here in the future.
Megan S — Google review
Hosts were friendly and bathrooms were clean, but this is a very densely populated campground where many sites do not have tree cover nor surrounding vegetation for privacy. It feels more like an RV park. For tent camping, if you don't get one of the few sites built into the edge of the sand dunes, there are far nicer places to camp on the Lake Michigan coast.Check in time (around 3pm) even on a Sunday was a zoo, with long lines of vehicles waiting to enter. They have not adopted the online self check-in process here that some other Michigan state parks have begun using, so everyone has to interact with a staff member in the office as they arrive. A bit archaic to say the least.
Greg K — Google review
Beautiful beach, nice bathrooms/shower facilities. The lighthouse is cute, they have a small pier you can walk on. They have walkways out to the water that make it easier for families with strollers or someone who walks with a cane, walker, or possibly a wheel chair. Nice volleyball nets on the beach. Can be very busy but there is a a lot of parking and lots of beach space!
Julie B — Google review
Nice park. Has nice bathrooms. Close to a lot of things to do. Would go back again. Holland is an interesting city. The only things I didn't like were all the pollen falling from the trees, although there were sites with no trees, and someone mentioned they had found ticks on their dog.
Brenda M — Google review
We are currently staying here. We have been to many state-managed campgrounds, and this one is among the worst. The location is Ideal, but the site and amenities are not.We have an electric only site - typically when you see this, you also have a water source nearby for hook-up - not here. Here you have to wait hours to fill up at the only water point on the campground. Our site is a corner lot near a playground - we strategically selected this for our young kids (5 & 7); unfortunately they don't like the playground. The electrical box on our site is in an odd location - so we had to maneuver our camper to make it work, however, the campground did not take this into account when placing a new pine tree on the site, as well as fencing & posts for the playground areas. It is nearly impossible to get a camper on this site - this should be designated for tent only. I was able to back in the trailer - but I am unsure how I am going to pull it out without damaging something - and our trailer is only 20'. I'm not saying that from a place of inexperience - I drove truck & trailer for the Army for 12 years. The showers are an environmentalists' dream. You push the button and you get 10 seconds of water from a shower head that is so worn that you have to hold it up to get any water on you. Try doing this with two small children and yourself - the family was not at all in mind when this idea was conceptualized. There are newer showers on the east side of the campground - but you have to shower in the dark because they installed environmentally friendly lighting that doesn't work properly. Its on for one second - then goes dark. I was told that most of them are like this. That's fine that you want to go with environmentally friendly lighting, but the least you can do is fix it and maintain it; you have staff everywhere checking on every site to ensure they aren't being too loud -but you can't maintain the lights? You would think the campground management (The State of Michigan) would make this a priority - since they don't have running water to each site - forcing everyone to use these showers for the most part. The sites are hit or miss. Most of them are just dirt with a grass blade here and there. Some are shades, others are full sun. The fire pits are concrete encased, so you cant move them out of the way to maneuver a trailer in a tight spot. One thing my kids love about camping is the "treat store". The front office is only a 'check in' location, and not a treat store. The only good thing about this campground, so far, is the location.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holland State Park, Macatawa Campground. The campground host was super friendly, helpful and had a lot of good information including maps of the park and surrounding area. The campsites were nice size. Ours was a pull thru site on a sandy base, had a fire ring, picnic table and good clean power. The restroom and shower building was newer, very clean and nicely laid out with separate individual shower rooms and a spacious restroom facility with hot and cold running water. The campground was located within walking distance of a lot of activities. We definitively recommend this campground and plan to return.

Advice: Looking at a map, you don't see that the ocean loop is an asphalt parking lot. You can't see the ocean from this asphalt jungle anyway. The better area is the lake side. Particularly the north end of the lake side. My 2 cents

We loved our first camping visit to Holland State park for 4 nights and 3 days. The state park is conveniently located beside Lake Macatawa and is a quick 6-7 min walk and enjoy the lake on a good weather day. The park was very well maintained, restrooms clean and spotless, showers well managed.Campers are super friendly and a lot of kids making it a very family friendly location. Staff were very helpful and to the point. There’s a variety of camp hosts events happening every week and good trails inside the state park. Beware of ticks if you have pets on the trails as a precautionary measure.

We love the fact they have sites with full hookups. We also utilize the Park Township marina for our boat, it's an awesome combination. On top of a great beach and nice swim area, we have the best state park in Michigan.

The campsites are nice and level. Hosts are friendly and the park staff is helpful. Campground is scenic and has lots of activities and amenities. They are very strict at the 3:00 check in. We got there at 2 and they wouldn’t let us check in. So me and the guy next to me did what any logical person would do: we went to our vacant campsite and dropped our RVs and came back at 3 to officially check in.However, the whole experience was ruined by the road noise. It’s not just traffic, but literal road racing and cars/trucks/motorcycles with no mufflers. It’s like the road attracts every teenage kid with a “sport tuner” car racing up and down the street. I always thought that Ottawa County was strict on that kind of stuff but apparently that’s not the case. If you’re looking for peace and quiet go elsewhere. The center median on I-96 is probably quieter.

Tried to camp here. We reserved site 210. We have a 20' small trailer. The site is nearly impossible to get into. Perhaps if no one was in the adjacent campsites you could get in at the right angle but too many cars etc for us to try. It was a very tight fit and it was pouring rain. The site was a big puddle so wouldn't recommend it for a tent either!
Barb W — Google review
Stayed in our RV, electric hook up only, no water or sewer. Lots of bike trails to explore. Nice park, we'd stay again if in the area.
Steve C — Google review
So the shop is super cute, but the bathrooms need a major change. Not nearly enough toilets and the changing stalls have zero privacy, no curtains or doors or anything 🙄 so they are just wasted space since no one ever uses them. The beach is great tho. The trails that bring you to the water could be longer though, it only gets you about half way. And if you are trying to get to the pier, the concrete has crumbled away and you have to climb down the broken concrete chunks to the sand and then climb up to the pier, so very much not wheelchair friendly. Great views and fishing once you are up there tho! Also, dogs are not allowed on the sand, so keep that in mind if you have a fur baby. Day passes are 20$ if you don't have the parks and recreation tag on your license plate

Veldheer Tulip Gardens is a popular tourist destination that features an impressive display of tulips. Visitors can expect to spend approximately two hours walking through the tulip fields and admiring the beautiful flowers while taking photographs. In addition to the tulips, there are also bison on site, and visitors have the opportunity to purchase bulbs and gifts from various stores. However, it should be noted that the location is not very wheelchair or stroller accessible.
At first, I was skeptical $15 dollars to look at flowers? The farm is gorgeous so many tulips you'd never had thought were tulips and at the end you can buy your favorite and get them shipped to you at planting time (October/November). They give you a booklet that has the names and codes of all the flowers to keep track of all the ones you want. Trust me it'll be a lot!

Absolutely beautiful tulip gardens. It's so fun to walk through the gardens and look at the names of all the tulips. It's so cool that you can also buy your own tulip bulbs based on what you see in the garden. Definitely worth the $17 admission.

It s small but very pretty place. We might have visited on the last day so some flowers were wilted. But we saw a variety of tulips and flowers that I had never seen before. It's a cute little place with windmills and all resembling the original Holland. Will definitely visit again.

Nice but expensive ($17 per person). We liked the smaller city gardens near downtown Holland better. The shops are nice.

This park is not the way i have seen other parks with tulip flowers. It has different sections created with variety of tulips in line. We went as per their schedule mentioned online but it was disappointing to see already tulips fully bloomed and almost dying. Few were already harvested. Even though you have variety of tulips planted it’s very confusing to see and if it was entire line planted with same variety it would have been beautiful. Since I like taking photos I could share few here. I booked online in advance to avoid standing in line but you don’t have different entry options for online or in person buying. Inside park lot of beautification is still needed. For the price we paid i felt it’s just ok. Hope you can make it best. Good luck.

Beautiful rows of flowers. A photographer’s dream! Gets very crowded during the Tulip Time Festival, especially on weekends. You might have to park at Blain’s Farm & Fleet across the street. But it was absolutely worth the visit.

Beautiful Tulips! Any color and variety you can imagine! Beautiful hyacinths so aromatic!! Not as pleasing to the eye was the run-down grounds. There is no water in the fountain or the canal. The signs need painting, and some of the benches were pretty rough. You can order whatever tulip variety you want while you are there. There is also a cute souvenir shop with all kinds of authentic Dutch crafts. It's definitely worth a visit during Tulip Time.

This place is very run down and not kept up. When you first walk in, instead of seeing beautiful tulips, you see run down displays. You would think for paying $17 a person, it would be maintained better. However, the tulips were beautiful further back on the property and in a great variety of colors and types. The workers were very friendly and helpful. It was a nice experience overall.

What a beautiful farm it is indeed!!! The farm is wide spread with all beautiful tulips. A huge variety and colorful tulips can be seen there. The farm also has a store selling some tulips bulbs and some gifts items. A must visit place if you are in Holland, especially at the time of Spring. One can find really good spots for capturing photos of you are interested in flowers, nature or even photography.

It seems to me that this place is not quite the gem it once was. broken and worn, peeling paint and in need of weeding. for the price that is charged they sould have cleaned up in time for the tulip season. sad to see this place in such disrepair.the tulips however did not disappoint in their brilliant glory.

Beautiful tulip field, acreage of land with many many colors and options to order them in Fall. Was very crowded when I visited last Saturday. Parking was full and had to go circles in the field to find one. Entry fee was 15 per adult this year and you get nothing for free and just spend some time to see the flowers in the crowd. They had plastic restroom’s available.Just good to see once place. Note: they have notice saying 100$ file per flower damaged or plucked. Keep your kids on your side lol

This was my first time here and I went during peak season first weekend of May. It was GORGEOUS. So many flowers. I had no idea there were so many shapes and sizes and colors. I was truly in awe. Going to every flower with just pure joy and amazement. It was $15 to get in for adults, and while not much "to do" except sight see and take photos (also they have chairs all around to relax and enjoy the views!) it is still worth it as I spent a good hour and a half out in the field and walking around. I also visited the gift shop and got some cute goodies and yummy snacks!! The parking isn't as bad as it looks. Easy in and out. Walk wasn't far. They have portable toilets and they were clean and maintained. Overall a very fun visit! Perfect for photo taking and relaxing. 🌷

A must see during the annual tulip festival in May. Unfortunately this year (2024) was bad weather for tulips and the display at Veldheer was no exception. We asked about the condition of the tulips before paying $17 per person and were told the flowers were “at peak”. We would have paid the entrance fee anyway, but after we got on to the tulip fields we saw the peak had past at least a week or two earlier. We feel that we were misled by staff. Hopefully they can fix the communication issues in time for next year’s festival.

22-acre preserve with swimming beach & playground features tunnel through sand dunes & scenic climb.
Nice spot with a lot to offer, sand dunes for the kids to climb, stairs to lead up to a picnic area overlooking the water. Cool tunnel to walk through for beach access, playground for the kiddies and lots of parking. Great place to watch a sunset!

Excellent Michigan Park - very clean, with access to the Lake Michigan beach via an actual tunnel going through a large sand dune. The park itself has multiple picnic areas and playgrounds for all-size kids. There is a bathhouse with restrooms and a changing area.Parking is somewhat limited, and you'll need a state park pass for entry, or pay a parking fee.The beach is NOT accessible for those with mobility issues, as the access points are you climb stairs over the dune, or go down a shorter flight of stairs on the other side of the tunnel. There is, however, a small deck overlooking the beach area and has a couple of benches to watch the sunsets.
Dave S — Google review
Walking through the tunnel to the beautiful Michigan beach brought back so many wonderful childhood memories. A clean public family beach, parking is $8 for the daily pass or you can park off the lot and walk a few minutes, annual pass is $25 so if you’re visiting for more than three days cheaper to get the annual pass. The beach gets crowded! Water will still take your breath away mid July- so chilly and refreshing after sunbathing!

Tunnel Park is one of our favorite all sand spots to visit while in Michigan! We usually spend a few hours here at the beach. The sunsets are absolutely stunning here. If you’re looking for rocks you’ll want to skip this one though as you won’t find any. There are about 25+stairs. The first time we visited there we couldn’t find the tunnel and went up and down the sand dune. lol. I wouldn’t suggest that. Take the stairs. Very family friendly.

Great beach! We went right when it opened so parking was right by the playground/restrooms(changing rooms-showers)/stairs to dunes/actual tunnel to beach! Kids loved the sand bar within the swim markers.

Not a bad place, but it's extremely busy here. You will not get much space at the beach here either. Does have a few small dunes for kids and small play area.

Ended up here while the bigger well known dune parks nearby were far too busy. This underated gem has lots of picnic spots for different group sizes. Best of all on the other side you get direct access to the dune and lake front of you want to venture that far. Or if you go from the top, you will get some awesome views of the dunes and lake. Would definitely come back next time we head to the dunes.

This is a wonderful little hidden gem on Lake Michigan. I wish we could have spent more time here, maybe had a picnic. Absolutely gorgeous. Definitely want to come here again.

There is a long stairway from the parking lot up and down to the beach (or steep sand hill the kids loved conquering) but absolutely worth it. My favorite beach view in all of Michigan. The mound you do go over also gives this amazing high scenery and blocks a lot of sound to add to the stillness and seclusion of the spot

We had a great time spending an evening here for sunset. Lots of parking. Got there around 8:15. Fun to get pictures while in the tunnel and on the other side with the stairs. Clean beach. Wasn't too crowded. Has a rinse of area, bathrooms, a park. It's a workout getting to and from the beach as it's a hill down towards the beach. The overlook through the tunnel is handicap accessible, but the beach is not.

A very different vibe than nearby Holland State Park beach. You need a different parks pass, finding open parking can be tough, and a photo in the tunnel is a MUST. Very nice beach, with a small dune to climb up to get back to the tunnel.

This is our favorite beach for three generations. Our experience is unique with each visit. If you love Michigan sand, cool water, and feel indifferent about an ever changing crowd and conditions— this may be for you.Parking:You have to pay for parking at the kiosk or you will get a hefty fine. This is a new development in the past couple years. You can park across the street from the park entrance if there is space available .Sand:Typical Michigan sand litter fluctuates, depending on the crowd, but on average it’s tidier than the state park.Water quality:If you like the beautiful clear blue water that’s going to be on cooler days when there are a few fewer swimmers. When the water is warm and the crowds are thick, it gets really green and gunky and greasy. The playground is nice. It can be busy. It is not difficult to keep track of your children from the benches. There is a lovely Sandune and boardwalk from the playground to the beach. Many nice boardwalk views and photo op walk with nice overlook areas. The covered areas in pavilions can be rented, but our first come first serve when not reservedThere are plenty of picnic tables and grills nearby paid parking. I recommend packing a tablecloth foil and easy light charcoal bagThere are well kept restroom facilities (for a public beach)There are areas to rinse off sand in the outdoor shower, but there’s definitely a high demand so be mindful of the people around you.No lighthouse or pier. Go to the state park for that. No fishing area. Not a lot of length of beach to walk. Sandwiched in by private properties. There are vending machines for soft drinks near the restroom and changing rooms. Some nice sandpit volleyball areas. Plenty of space for other activities like frisbee or soccer. Maybe Football. No pets. Great bike paths to get you there.

Pastor Billy Cash introduced us to his charity... which, by the way, is such a good charity 😉. Gertrude...she is just awesome... such a dutiful pastor's wife...she also has unlimited access to the church/charity funds🫣. Ned knows things... all things 😁🙃 make sure you're on your best behavior....he tends to like to take photos of "things" that you might not want publicly known 🤨. Bob is such a likable guy, just the sweetest! He has a problem with gambling, so hold onto your wallets...he's in deep debt 🤔 🥰 Ivan possesses all the skills in cleaning things up😬, but he's a great guy to know if you have a ckean up that needs taking care of. And Flatfoot Fred...well, he's a top notch detective.....he dies like to recruit outside consultants, so sharpen your detecting skills before you board the train because you never know if your skills may be required by Fred 🫵Watch out for swinging golf clubs. And pay very close attention to everything....including before you get on the train... you never know a clue you may need to help solve the mystery.I highly recommend the different train rides they have. It's a great experience...also a great way to make memories with friends, or loved ones. 😍Happy riding everyone! 😃

We are Grandparents, and brought our family a Merry Christmas experience. We were a group of 20 paid $460, and they decided to board us last, and we were one of the first people to arrive at the Station. They should board larger groups first! We stood outdoors for an 1/2 hour on a very windy 30 degree day with a newborn, 18 month old, and 4 more 5 and under. They over booked the 2:30 time slot train, had no where to put us, separated us all, some Grandchildren had to sit by themselves with complete strangers. They literally crammed us in Car #3, that is not updated, with lots of ripped broken seats, and windows were so steamed up you couldn't even see out. Our Children and Grandchildren were very polite, and gracious during a very disappointing time for our Very First Christmas Train Ride, and it will be our Very Last with Coopersvilles Marne! Very Sad & Unhappy, Not a Merry Christmas!

I do not recommend the pumpkin train. Very overpriced for what you get. It took a lot longer than they said it would be and it was really boring. The kids had a meltdown while we waited so long to turn around in Marne with nothing to occupy them. Other rides might be better, but we had a particularly not good experience

This is a cute little train ride from Coopersville to Marne. It takes about 90 minutes round trip. There are about 4 cars to choose from to sit in. One has dining tables and air conditioned, one is air conditioned and the last is not air conditioned. There is entertainment on the train and you can bring foods and light drinks. It is great for kids and affordable for families. I wish the train went a bit faster but it's all volunteer ran and it's good for what you get.

Went on their Easter Train, it was a lot of fun and very cool! My son who loves trains was glued to the window and the ride was perfect length to keep him entertained. They had the Easter bunny come and walk along the middle of the train, it was very cool! We will be back!!!

Coopersville is a comfy yet active community. Stroll downtown to the Delly Belly for breakfast or visit the locally owned and operated hardwood store. There's a train to checkout while you eat your ice cream cup. I just live it here.

This train was super disappointing. They definitely do not make it clear enough that this train is made for children under the age of like 8. They sang obnoxious nursery rhymes while we looked into people’s backyards and at the highway (not very scenic, but suuuper boring!) They hand out a few coloring pages, like thanks I guess. And at the end you don’t even get a pumpkin unless you have children with you. I get that things are kid oriented, but I paid $225 for 6 tickets to a train that advertised getting a pumpkin and a scenic route and ended up getting neither. So don’t waste your time with this, I would’ve had a much better time going to a traditional pumpkin patch.

What a great time!! We sat in the caboose where the kids got to sit up top. The chairs were SO comfortable and it was nice having the table to sit at. The train rolled at 10 mph so a nice speed to take in the scenery. We took the October themed pumpkin train where the kids had on costumes, apple cider and donuts were on our caboose and two girls dressed as a pumpkin and a crow came in and performed a few songs for us. They were really good and the kids really liked it. The kids also got to pick a pumpkin when they got off the train. Not to mention the fantastic eateries right around the corner, pizza, donuts and an ice cream shop. Nice fall day, we will be back next year!!

We went on the Bunny Train with our 9 year old and our 24 year old/and his SO. We all had a great time! The ride isn't too long to bore everyone, but isn't too short that we felt it wasn't long enough. The singing/skit team was adorable! Thanks for all you did to make it fun for everyone!

Quick stop in Coopersville on the way to our destination. Nice town with a unique downtown. Marne Railway and the old trains were a pleasure to stop and see. Well worth the side quest 🙂

We took the murder mystery train ride. It was fun! And I'm looking forward to checking out their other events. Even if it's just for a train ride and nothing else, you should go and check it out! It's an old steam engine era passenger train.

The train itself was cool! Loved the old school lights in car 1. Was expecting the train to be decorated for Halloween. The ladies who sang were wonderful. Added a nice touch. No one checked our tickets. It would have been cool if the pumpkin s had been in a hay setting. My 3vyear old grandson loved it and that's all that mattered. If it would take donations to decorate the train for the holidays, I would be willing to do that. Thank you to the volunteers. You rock!

Positives:-The train was beautiful-The booth seats in the premium were comfortable-Hot cocao and cookies were great-Santa visited and gave small gifts-The story of polar express was read-The time it took for the whole trip was neither to short or to long- Most everyone working the train were very nice and helpfulNegatives:-Its not scenic-spent 15 minutes outside and another 30 in the seats waiting (they ask for you to be 30 minutes early)-A lady working told the grandparents to move to different seats away from us to fit a family of 5 that reserved last minute so they could sit together. When I tried to explain to her that I reserved those seats and that the grandparents were with us, she wouldn't even look me in the eye and said "this is what the seating is going to be" and walked away. Luckily someone else working overheard and came by and asked me what the problem was and helped sort it out and the family of 5 was more then willing to shuffle around so we each got to sit with our own families.I understand they had some changes they needed to do this week, but that was not an excuse to be rude. I had the email about the changes and the new seating arrangements, and my seats I reserved did not change. I very much appreciated the employee that was willing to help us sort it out instead of walking away.
Monica — Google review
Booked a cab ride for about $70. Was enjoying the view sitting at the station until two guys came in and one just told me “I had to get off the seat since he had to sit there” and I was left with either to sit on the seat that was too low to see or just stand the entire ride. Really wasn’t in the friendliest way either. It was sort of a fun ride but paying how much I did, I feel I at least should’ve had the leisure of sitting and watching everything
Evan B — Google review
It was a clean train, nice and friendly staff. We wish there would have been some commentary about the town and history of the trail and railroad as we went on, but no biggie. We did get a newspaper with a lot of details and updates about the train.Would for sure recommend if you're in the area.
Elisa J — Google review
Took the summer train ride with 3 adults and 2 children ages 7 and 8. For the price, I expected more of an "experience." You simply boarded the train, rode for 45 long minutes and that's it. Perhaps the "themed" rides are entertaining, but the the summer train is a total "bust' and a waste of money.
Ashley M — Google review
The train was beautiful and my granddaughters had a great time with the characters who came through to sing and tell jokes.A bit underwhelming, overall, with a lack of engagement. Would have been nice to have music or commentary about the train or the town, etc. The side of the train with the large windows was on the highway side, so it wasn't as scenic as we hoped. The newspaper with information on the organization was a cute touch and done well.Definitely geared toward ages 2-8ish. We were there as a family, so 5 adults and 2 kids under 5, and probably should have chosen a different activity to spend $300 on. The girls loved it, especially the 5yo, so it was an enjoyable time.

Very nice attraction. We brought our 2 & 3 year olds to ride the Famous Pumpkin Train & they loved it! They had characters all dressed up in costume singing festive Halloween songs for the kids. They also came through twice and offered drinks & snacks for sale. Plenty to keep the little ones occupied. There are restrooms on board. The staff are exceptionally friendly & all the kids even get a pumpkin at the end of the train ride. They also offer scenic train tours as well as a special Santa Train ride around Christmas time.

Me and my partner took a trip here from Muskegon today. The woman working there today was the nicest person I ever met and very informative. The museum had a large variety of things to see and there was absolutely not a single speck of dust on anything. The cleanest museum we have ever been to. We will definitely be coming back soon. Love the town, the museum and the friendly staff.

I love history! The museum's main red-brick building was built in 1902 as a depot and substation for one of West Michigan's electric interurban railways, houses railroad displays, along with early business, household, and military exhibits. It also has memorabilia on Coopersville rock-and-roll star Del Shannon. Early settlers building commemorates early settlement of the area with a sawmill, model railroad, tools, logging items and schoolroom. If you love history, check out #DiscoveryMichigan tours and experiences!

Great place to bring the kids to play. You can also just go for a walk around the area. This park has playground equipment, splash pad, place to play volleyball. They offer concerts in the park and sometimes events. It has portable potties. The park offers lots of parking and is located by a ice cream shop

Rogers Park has a stage, pavilion, for Sparta events, music and all kinds of festivals! Beautiful grounds, playground, Creek running along the north boundary, sandbox, Splash pad and an ice cream shop, plenty of seating as you picnic and play with family and play some volleyball on the two sand courts if you like. The sweetest Park!

Sparta Michigan is the best to raise a family 💓 We have an all seasons come see our wonderful park! Live music of all varieties in the summer Wednesdays at 6:30.😍 Check the Sparta CofC website for details. There's a full-on splash pad for all summer overheated folks... All these amenities are close to downtown, too! right across the street 💯💛💓Sparta, the perfect place to Grow a Family.

Pretty good size park right in the downtown district with Nash Creek running through it. It has lots of options for kids and some for adults. There is a splash pad and an elaborate playground structure for kids. There are only two benches near the playground structure but there is a wall all around and one can sit on the wall too while watching kids. Next to the playground, there is also a sandbox. Nearby, there is a good size gazebo with quite a few picnic tables under it. Right next to the gazebo, there is a swing set. Close to the sign for the park, there are two sand volleyball courts. And at the other end, there is a performance area. Finally, there are paved trails.

This park was nice to visit. I have 2 small kids and they were able to be entertained for a while. There's a large sandbox, playground, and even a splash pad for them to play on. There is also a nice amphitheater that would be able to accommodate a decent sized concert. One suggestion would be to have a pavilion because if all of the picnic tables/benches are taken, you may pay for it standing in the sun if you're not under a tree.

Brought the grandkids here to enjoy the splash pad which was so nice on that hot day! There were other families there but everyone was able to enjoy the water fountains! It is a very clean park. There are porta potties available close by as well as a drinking fountain.Several benches were available but sometimes not enough seating for the adults there with their kids.I will be going back again!

Great little park. Play area for the kids (complete with construction trucks in the sandbox - my son would approve), paved walking paths, even a stage area for small performances. My friend and I walked the paths in late November and there were some Christmas decorations up in the area. So pretty.

Rosy Mound Natural Area is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, offering towering sand dunes, lush forests, and a stunning beach. This classic Great Lakes dune system features high wooded dunes, foredunes, and a 200-foot dune blowout. The 0.7-mile hiking trail to Lake Michigan showcases scenic views of the woods and the lake, with 1,000 feet of stairs providing access up and down the dunes.
One of the cleanest and well maintained parks I've been to. Unless you have a hard time with stairs, the trails were easy for walking. Very pretty area. It's well worth the visit!
Beth B — Google review
Loved the hike here. Not too long nor too short. Plenty of stairs so be prepared for that!On way back, right at very end we took a detour (and took right) on way to our car and came across beautiful hundreds of red trees (attached in pic). The sight was splendid! Don't miss this if you visit this place!

I went here 5 days ago and absolutely LOVED it! The trail is so gorgeous and when you get the the beach it gets even better!I had asked someone I like a lot to go with me and we had such a great time! (Definitely don’t recommend this place for a first date. It makes all the others mediocre 😂)
Morgan K — Google review
It's a trek plus beach area, to see that lake, we have to walk the trek which is really fun. The trek goes really smoothly, not much long and with beautiful views and sitting arrangements at every corner.Washrooms are at the beginning of the trek, they are always clean enough. For the lake view, I will choose this place anytime.

Lovely trail through beautiful woods with a walk down the dunes to the beach. Very manicured trail (packed gravel & wooden boardwalks) that is well marked. Stairs are constructed to go over and down the dunes, which would be hard for people with limited mobility but not too challenging for most who are active. Also, plenty of places to sit and rest if needed.
Sara A — Google review
This is a natural wonder of beauty! You must be able to traverse the fairly rugged, wooded path with numerous rigorous climbs of flights of stairs. The path wends through a mature Cedar and Beech tree forest of mostly sandy floor, all with a lively aroma and reddish hue. At the end of the walk is a most beautiful private like beach area and some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.Don't try to carry too much. Towels, hydration, and general protection from the elements are essential.

Great hike, well paved with many stairs. Best of both worlds with wooded trails and beach access. Unfortunately not dog friendly and you have to pay to park

Trail leading to the beach is a good hike on its own with information about the area along the route. It's about a mile to the beach, doing the optional loop around 2.5 round trip.
Jacob H — Google review
Great trail through the woods of the dunes to the magnificent beach! The beach is about 1/2 mile or longer. Path is very flat and wide, much of it is planks. Much of it is also stairs, be prepared for a good climb.

This is such a beautifully preserved site, and the walking paths are well maintained. Amazing place, with many opportunities for stunning photographs.
Robert L — Google review
The Rosy Mound Natural Area is one of the typical Michigan Lakeshore Dune areas. From the spacy parking lot with restrooms, extremely good maintained walkways are leading the guests to the beach. There are ca. 360 steps on the way so it's not accessible for wheelchair and/or walking impaired people. A lot of benches on the way and beautiful viewpoints make the walk quite easy. Walking through the dunes and at the beach is awesome. Especially how clean the nature is - first time since my time in the US that I haven’t seen any garbage in it. The whole distance is around 2 miles, so in a relaxed way to explore in around 2 hours. We will come back in the summer to explore how swimming will be. Overall an very nice activity in west Michigan.
Alfons M — Google review
About three total miles of paths that are a mix of crushed gravel, stairs, and wooden boardwalks. It's only 0.7 miles from the parking to the beach on the most direct route, but there are stairs. Beautiful hikes through pine groves, dunes with scrub grass, and forests. Several overlooks along the paths and numerous benches for a break or just to enjoy the scenery. Very nice and modern bathroom facilities at the parking lot. More primitive pit-style outhouses near the beach. There is a daily fee of $8 per car for parking that is well worth it in my opinion. A lovely gem of a park.
Gregory P — Google review
Rosy Mound Natural Area is a hidden gem that offers a breathtaking experience akin to a mini Sleeping Bear Dunes. The trails are exceptionally well-kept, making for a pleasant and accessible hike through diverse landscapes. As you walk, you're treated to stunning views of sand dunes, lush forests, and serene lakes. The highlight is the climb up the wooden staircases that lead to panoramic vistas of Lake Michigan. The natural beauty of Rosy Mound is truly captivating, with vibrant wildflowers and diverse wildlife enhancing the scenic trails. The park's maintenance is commendable, ensuring a clean and enjoyable environment for visitors. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or a bit of adventure, Rosy Mound delivers. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers seeking the charm of Michigan's coastal beauty without the crowds of larger parks.

Grand Haven State Park is a 48-acre park located along the shores of Lake Michigan and the Grand River. It offers a sandy beach area for swimming, sunbathing, and scenic views, as well as a fishing pier and a striking red lighthouse that's perfect for photos. The park also features camping on the sand and is adjacent to Grand Haven City Beach, which has areas where dogs are allowed and an ADA-compliant beach walkway.
Always beautiful, relaxing, and awesome time. You can ride a bicycle almost anywhere in town. We ride all over to the shops and social area, along the boardwalk & be sure to bring a backpack or 2 if you hit the Farmer's Market on Wednesday or Friday!! Awesome awesome place💜

Grand Haven State Park will forever and always be my go-to beach; I grew up taking my grandpa’s boat out on the lake and swimming to/from the beach. It’s always a beautiful time, I especially love watching the sunset over the pier. It’s also generally kept pretty clean. Main thing to look out for is extra bold seagulls, because they can and will steal your food!

Amazing camp site, just beware the sites are super narrow and you could be waiting to pull in or out as people attempt to get within their site. Bathrooms/showers are mostly clean. Can’t beat the beach side view and being able to walk right onto the pier from site. My nephews caught some fish at night after most had left. Beware 4th of July is a teenage hang out on beach, luckily they had the site fenced off. It was entertaining, but wouldn’t want to be there again on that day.

If you are able to make the walk out to light house. It's worth it. Great place to watch the sunset.

The beaches and pier are beautiful. Rv spots can be tight for bigger rigs we noticed. We parked our Rv (30ft) and jeep just fine with plenty of room for chairs etc. The bathrooms are big but the water isn’t hot. Not saying any of these things are bad just sharing for others incase they are an issue for someone coming to stay. Dogs are allowed on beach only at certain times of the year on leash of course. Downtown is cute and the whole town has a great vibe. I’m sure it gets crazy in summer but end of sept/start of October is perfect.

Before I stayed at Grand Haven SP campground, I didn’t have high expectations. From the satellite view, the campground looks like a parking lot and sand. And it is.But it’s awesomely convenient to have your camper that close to the beach. And the campground has exclusive access to its own section of the beach. The aisles are wide, which is helpful for backing in a rig or trailer. The GH South Pier is next to the campground, offers an opportunity for a leisurely stroll or jog, and it’s open/lit 24 hours (unlike Holland SP…boo). Bathrooms/showers are adequate, and there’s a park store in the nearby day-use area.No ground fires allowed; you need to bring your own fire pit.Downtown is a short 10-minute bike ride, and there’s boardwalk or sidewalk to whole way. Bars/breweries/restaurants, ice cream, nightly musical fountain show, free cornhole.

Great campground..very nice bathhouse and great views..only downfalls are very tight spots so if your not very good at parking your rig you may want to go elsewhere and lots of non campers from the beach walking through the park. This is a larger more frequented park for the area. Lots of parking, dogs can be walked on the beach ( check posted signs for certain hours). Beautifully lit walkway to the lighthouse at the end. There is also an area to park and get out to take pics from the other side of the inlet. It's less crowded and has a different perspective for pictures. We like to come here because we can still see our dogs in the car when we come to get pics of sunset. Definitely a spot to come hang out for some fun time.

What an awesome and unique attraction that has such a long history with Grand Haven. We enjoyed a day at the pier, drinks, and live music in the quaint social district, followed by an excellent display of music, water, and lights. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a day in Grand Haven. We drove 2+ hours, and it was totally worth it!

Great way to top off the night after taking in a nice picturesque sunset 🌅. I haven’t seen the musical water show in a very long time, so it was definitely nice to see again. I just have to bring insect repellent next time for the mosquitoes 🦟 who love me so much. Please donate to keep this going. 😊

Met family here in Grand Haven. They said how great this attraction was. It did not disappoint. We have been to the bellagio in Vegas., and seeing these fountains did not disappoint. Would recommend it to any family. Also, there is a fantastic frozen yogurt place across the street .

Pretty cool that this place exists and the events they host. With the new amphitheatre on the front, the marina and pier, these fountains and the fireworks display make this area one of the best to be in the entire state of Michigan.

Spent the 4th of July in Grand Haven with my family. Grand Haven itself is a bustling, beautiful beach town with excellent shopping and dining available... Busy place, but still feels lazy when sitting and feeling the breeze off Lake Michigan. The fountain and light show was excellent, with no expense spared on the fireworks that followed. If you find yourself in SW Michigan, be sure to stroll around Grand Haven!
Cindy A — Google review
Show started at exactly 2210, the coloured fountains are actually located on the opposite side of the river from the terraced viewing area. We visited on a weekday in mid July and it wasn’t too busy. Best thing about is that it’s FREE! There was also plenty of free parking across the street and there are also restrooms behind the viewing area.

Always it's a great experience to enjoy the show, you can go with your family or by yourself. You'll be happy anyway. Different show every day. During the summer. Fully recommended.

Loved this! A great perk in the amazing town of Grand Haven. Until the Belagio opened their musical water show set to music, the one in Grand Haven was the largest. It's so nice to sit outside after a long day and relax while watching this great free show!

The Grand Haven South Pierhead Outer Lighthouse, established in 1839, is a historic boardwalk featuring two red-painted lighthouses connected by a lighted catwalk. These lighthouses serve as crucial navigational aids for ships along the coast. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk bordering the Grand River channel and pier. However, it's important to avoid visiting during storms due to rough waters and high waves that can pose serious risks.
The most elaborate triple lighthouse on Lake Michigan in the West Coast of Michigan. The intricate steel structures carry electricity to the lighthouses. It’s spectacular at all times of day and night but sunsets are breathtaking. It’s a major attraction for visitors and locals alike. The pier is used for walking, fishing or just starring at the beautiful scenery. On windy days it is also used for a variety of water sports including para- and windsurfing. We were so lucky to watch the Pere Marquette freighter being tugged out to Lake Michigan.

The Grand Haven Pier:Come and take a walk through paradise, morning or night, the catwalk, the sun and water is an amazing delight! Watch and hear a big freighter toot on it’s horn, the view is magnificent, perhaps even better than any magical unicorn! Waves can be big, the wind can blow hard, we are thee town of the mighty and brave Coast Guard!

Gorgeous place. My wife and I went June of 2021. Such a beautiful sunset and loved the walk out to the end of the pier.

Long concrete pier (probably almost 1/4 mile) on Grand Haven Beach with a lighthouse and another building structure at the end. Day I was there it was super windy and had large waves that made the Pier slick. Beautiful and popular at sunset ! Day I was there it was free to enter. A must-see in Grand Haven !
Barry G — Google review
Beautiful walk on the pier. The height of the buff does dip down about halfway through so be mindful of waves splashing over the edge! Amazing experience and about a 1.5 mile walk from downtown Grand Haven.
Spencer — Google review
This is THE gem of West Michigan!I thoroughly appreciate Grand Haven and its polished architecture, but its best is right at the pier! Get the recreational pass and come often! I go a dozen or more times a year and the sunsets are amazing!Check out websites (Google it, there are several) to see if any ships are coming or going and your kids will be in for a real treat! There is more activity in Muskegon, but the beauty of Grand Haven is the trump card here (speaking as a photographer)!Winter is beautiful, if you can stand the wind and cold.

The Boardwalk to South Pier end and back to downtown is simply required of all visitors. Such a great walk. Bring the dogs!!
Ravepuppie — Google review
Grand Haven South Pierhead, located along the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan, is a stunning destination that offers visitors a delightful blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Just a short drive from Grand Rapids, this charming area is known for its iconic lighthouse, sandy beaches, and scenic views, making it a perfect getaway for both locals and tourists. As I approached the South Pierhead, the first sight that caught my eye was the striking red lighthouse standing proudly at the end of the pier. This historic lighthouse, built in 1905, has become a symbol of Grand Haven and is a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts. The vibrant color of the lighthouse against the backdrop of the blue sky and the shimmering lake creates a picturesque scene that is hard to resist.Walking along the pier itself is an experience in itself. The sturdy walkway stretches out into Lake Michigan, providing breathtaking views of the water and the surrounding coastline. I felt invigorated by the fresh lake breeze as I strolled along, watching boats glide across the water and seagulls soaring overhead. The sound of the waves crashing against the pier added to the serene atmosphere, making it a perfect place for reflection and relaxation. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing a beautiful sunset over Lake Michigan. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky transformed into a canvas of warm colors—deep oranges, pinks, and purples—casting a magical glow over the lake. The view from the pier was nothing short of spectacular, and I found myself captivated by the ever-changing colors of the sky and water. It was a moment of pure tranquility, and I couldn’t help but take a few moments to soak it all in.In addition to the stunning views, Grand Haven South Pierhead is a hub of activity. The nearby Grand Haven State Park features sandy beaches that are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking. Families and friends gather on the beach, enjoying the warm sun and the sound of laughter filling the air. I took a leisurely walk along the shoreline, collecting seashells and watching children play in the water. The sense of community and joy was palpable, making it a welcoming environment for all visitors. The area is also rich in history and culture. The Grand Haven Boardwalk runs parallel to the waterfront and is lined with charming shops, restaurants, and cafes. I enjoyed exploring the local boutiques and indulging in delicious treats from the ice cream shops. The vibrant atmosphere of the boardwalk is perfect for a leisurely stroll, and I found myself drawn to the unique offerings of the local vendors.Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the opportunity to spot various bird species along the pier and the surrounding areas. The lake is home to migratory birds, and I was fortunate enough to see a few pelicans and herons during my visit. The natural beauty of the area is complemented by the diverse ecosystems, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching and nature photography. For accommodations, Grand Haven offers several options, from cozy bed-and-breakfasts to hotels with stunning waterfront views. I chose to stay at a charming inn close to the beach, which allowed for easy access to both the pier and the downtown area. Waking up to the sounds of the waves and the sight of the lighthouse from my window was a delightful way to start each day.In summary, Grand Haven South Pierhead is a captivating destination that showcases the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Lake Michigan. With its iconic lighthouse, sandy beaches, and lively atmosphere, it’s a perfect spot for relaxation and outdoor activities. Whether you’re walking along the pier, enjoying a sunset over the lake, or exploring the local shops, Grand Haven South Pierhead offers an unforgettable experience that highlights the charm of the Great Lakes region. I left feeling rejuvenated and eager to return to this beautiful lakeside gem!

A great place to view in rough weather, but also not an ideal place to visit under such conditions.Seriously: DO NOT VISIT DURING STORMS!!The location is beautiful to visit when weather is calm or if there is light rain. Diving off the pier can also be fun so long as you are aware of the rocks. Rough waters are also fine so long as the weather is relatively calm. High, violent waves during blustery conditions can be a death sentence, though.Be aware, take precautions, be safe.

If you're anywhere near Grand Haven this is a must see. It clearly is an icon. bring you camera. Choose your parking wisely, there are ample lots. That said it is a beautiful area to walk around. Getting out to the lighthouse was straight forward. The walk area was clean and safe. People of all ages were venturing out on the pier.

Cold winter day but the pier was a beauty to see. It was frozen over I tried to walk the whole length but started skidding recommend having traction on your boots. The ice sculpturing was beautiful with the fire engine red lighthouse in the background. Look forward to visiting during other seasons to watch the transformation

We are very thankful for the continued maintenance on the Grand Haven Pier and lighthouses. Please don't walk out in storms or on the ice. Many people have died here and there are memorials posted for the some of them who drowned in the early 2000s, but many others are not listed.

The USS LST 393 museum showcases historical exhibits on a World War II tank-landing ship. The displays include uniforms, equipment, and weapons that were used during the war. The museum has numerous plaques throughout that provide interesting information about the ship and its role as a warship. Visitors can explore all levels of the ship from the engine room to the top level.
Very cool experience. We took the whole family and everyone was unexpectedly intrigued. Very rare memorabilia and real life stories. Must see to appreciate

Great museum! It’s educational and they host fun events as well like D-Day remembrances. They have some pretty cool displays inside. Well worth a visit.
K M — Google review
The membership here is doing an outstanding job on the restoration of the ship and an enormous job on the preservation of the history of our greatest generation and beyond. I was extremely impressed with the high caliber of displays they had presented. The self guided tour is great. You can explore all parts of the ship with an almost free to go anywhere, feeling the price for entry is very reasonable. You gotta check it out, and be sure to see the Silverside too after. These men and women are doing a great job by preserving history for all of us.There was a PBR there when we visited, AND I WANNA RIDE ON IT. Hope they offer tours and rides on it someday.. Very cool..
Kryn G — Google review
There is SO much to see in the main area on this ship museum, it was almost overwhelming when we first walked in. Prepare to spend a bit of time going through that AND the ship itself. Can't buy tickets in advance, which was fine as there was no wait and no timed guided tour. Wish we'd had more time as we didn't get through the gift shop and they weren't going to be open on weekdays anymore (Sept 1st changes to weekends only) so we couldn't go back the next day. Be aware on a hot day that the interior of the ship will be about 10 degrees or so HOTTER then it is outside as air cannot move around inside freely (we were sweating by the time we'd finished wandering around the ship). Still highly recommend as it is a piece of USA history preserved.

We came to the LST-393 for the 9/11 Salute with the Scouts and enjoyed the museum displays, heritage materials, and the history of the veterans who served. Thanks for sharing the history of our country with the generations to come. God bless and have a great day.

I was super excited to see the LST 393 on 5/24. Stopped since there is a very large sign hanging off the port side visible from the road with the word "OPEN" on it. Came to find out they are only open on the weekends until after Memorial Day. I'm sure it would have been a Great tour.

This museum is so incredibly important to where our country has been militarily that it should be on everyone’s “must see” list. The efforts put forth to make this ship a museum should be recognized and applauded. There are only 2 LST ships left in the world (out of 1000), how amazing that we have this experience in Michigan.

Movies on the Deck was a great experience. The kids loved it. We will be back.
Joe H — Google review
The history at this museum is incredible. The many plaques throughout the museum are very interesting to read, and they paint a picture of what the ship must’ve been like in its prime as a warship. You can go down as far as the engine room and up as far as the top level! There is a gif shop inside for souvenirs. Prices are reasonable at $10/adult as if 2021.
Andrew W — Google review
Great experience to go through the ship. It has a lot of memorabilia inside. I learned a lot about the D-day of Normandy invasions. There's no guide, you can follow the maps throughout the ship. If you have difficulties on climbing stairs or have issues with tight spaces you may not be able to get into all the locations. They arrange also sleepovers in the ship if you're interested.
Janne K — Google review

Zach K — Google review
Pretty cool museum. The man at the front collecting the money could brush up on his people skills. Maybe he just got out of bed on the wrong side. The ship is 3 levels and lots to see on every level. It is right along the bike path. If you ride your bike don't use the bike rack. The irrigation system is pointed right at it. Quite the suprise to have everything soaking wet on a gorgeous day.

Pere Marquette Park is a public beach located on the shores of Lake Michigan. The beach boasts of vast white sands and provides an unobstructed view of a lighthouse. This place serves as a second home for many people all year round, especially during summer when families with kids come to enjoy the warm sunshine. The area is generally clean, but visitors are encouraged to maintain cleanliness by disposing of trash in designated cans provided throughout the park.
We absolutely loved this place! So much to do. They have a place called The Deck. It has food, drinks, bands playing, foose ball, corn hole, swings on the deck. It is fun for the whole family. Spend time at the beach and take a walk out to the light house. You do pay for parking. 10$.Highly recommend going. The sand is so soft too.

Great place to access Lake Michigan from the Muskegon area. Parking is prepaid at $10/day or $20 for a season pass. The beach was very clean. The bathrooms were relatively clean. Easy parking all the way down the park. We are up here for the week and have visited every day. There is a nice play structure and beach volleyball courts on the premises.

The sunset, the night we walked the pier, was the highlight sunset of a lifetime for all 3 of my kids and I. It's absolutely magical how it played out. The sky was bland, overcast, and we couldn't even see the sun that day. Ty, Ash, Em, and I decided to walk down the pier to the lighthouse right at sunset. We commented wishing the sky was in a better mood for a prettier sunset, having no idea how it would turn around the farther we walked. Both girls and I barefoot, of course, didn't realize the 2 mile round trip was mostly concrete 🥴. We first see a memorial for all the people who have lost their lives on this pier. The farther out we got, the sketcher it got. Drop off on each side surrounded by huge boulders. As we walked on, the more beautiful the sky became, turning into the most beautiful and breathtaking sky we've ever seen. And somehow, our phone cameras came very close to capturing it. We even chatted with a local that ventured out, saying how rare it was for them to see such a sunset over the lake. It was very hard to turn our backs on to venture back to the soft sand. Our feet were begging for 1/4th of the way in. Really wish I'd have taken more pics of our faces. But, we were too in awe of the sky to snap pics of anything else. Watch the pics in order (ugh, I don't think it put them in order) to see the sky turn from mundane to magnificent. The 2 hours we spent is not only the highlight of our trip, but mist definitely a highlight of a lifetime as a mom with my sunset chasing kids. If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Muskegon Michigan, definitely take the time to walk down the Marquette Pier.

This place never disappoints with its amazing sunsets and numerous ice cream spots. There are also some good places to grab some grub. It was a better place when parking was free and there were less buildings near the beach. That being said, The Deck is quite a good date spot given it's a great sunset night.

This beach is beautiful. There is plenty of parking that is close, for a reasonable fee. There's a great restaurant on the beach (The Deck) open during the summer months that is awesome. There are public restrooms near the pier as well as a playground. The beach is kept very clean and is very large. I've been to many Lake Michigan beaches, and this one is a favorite! The far south end of the beach is dog friendly (down past the water treatment plant).

The waves are really fun to surf on the south side of the jetty. Clean sandy beach with really clean restrooms. Sand volleyball courts and lots of parking.

Beautiful and clean beach. We bring our drinks and food and hang out for the day. The water is pretty shallow going out a ways, so my kids enjoy splashing around. The sand is nice to be in instead of mud and rocks like most lakes. It really reminds me of a coastal beach (my home).

Excellent beach no matter what the season! Beautiful sand with lots of beach space to enjoy. Restrooms and outdoor shower, as well as a handicapped walkway that leads near the water. There is a restaurant on the beach as well as an ice cream/snack shack. You will need to pay for parking during the summer months but it’s not very expensive. Kiteboarders are often there. Great sunsets as well. Beautiful place for a wedding too!

VERY NICE beach area with tons of room on a soft sandy beach! Well taken care of! Paid $7.00 for an all day park pass. Well worth it. Gradual decline in the water and clear sand below. It was like going to Florida beaches only cooler and friendlier to everyone! I could not recommend this more, we had a relaxing blast here! There are bathrooms in the area we went too. We WILL come back, it was that nice!

Love this beach. I have joint problems and walking in the sand can be rough. But they have a walkway that takes you close to the waters edge. So I don't have to risk injury before I even get to the water. The beach was clean. There is a play structure for the kids and a place to rent chairs and floaties. Buy snacks, ice cream and drinks. There's also a bar on the beach for adult beverages you can enjoy with your toes in the sand. I didn't go in there, but it looked pretty cute.

The USS SILVERSIDES Submarine Museum is an expansive facility that showcases naval history, particularly from World War II on both the Pacific and European fronts. The museum offers tours of a preserved WWII sub and interesting exhibits, including nurse recruitment posters and other contributions from women. In addition to informative videos about the sub, the museum boasts a wide selection of souvenirs in its shop.
A good museum with a great overnight experience. Interesting exhibits from World War II on both the Pacific and European fronts. I enjoyed seeing the nurse recruitment posters and other contributions from women. The videos about the sub provided a good description of what we would see below. Good selection of souvenirs in the shop. I highly recommend visiting with scout troops. Our girl scouts loved it.

This is an absolute gem of a museum! The museum itself is really wonderful and informative. The self guided onboard tour is INCREDIBLE. The ships are in pristine condition and I feel so incredibly lucky that I was able to go aboard pieces of history! There is so much learning to be had here, and an incredible experience all together. The grounds are stunning, right on the water-wonderful view of ships and boats coming and going. I visited on a perfect summer day and the lake has never looked more beautiful. Everyone who works or volunteers here is very kind and knowledgeable. The museum, Cutter and the Submarine are absolutely worth a trip from wherever you may be coming from.
Diane R — Google review
Go watch the video in the museum first before going out to the Silversides as it will tell you a lot more then what is visually in the sub. The submarine was definitely the highlight! The cutter was as to be expected (they really hype the Silversides instead of the McLane). Getting through the sub can be quite tight in some places (obvs), so if you can't bend/stretch your legs over knee height, I would stick to the museum. We spent about 3 hours on site (there are quite a few things to look/watch in the museum building).
Laura P — Google review
Really cool experience! Definitely worth checking out! There was so much to learn and they had a lot of interactive displays. This is a great place for any one of any age. They also had a nice gift shop. The best part was being to actually walk around the ship and submarine.

What a great museum! I was a nuclear fast attack submariner in the 90s, and it was amazing to walk through a real WWII diesel boat. The museum itself is worth the price of admission. It does a great job of walking you through the events that lead to the attack on Dec 7 at Pearl Harbor. It then guides you through the challenges these heroes had to face. There is a display on a POW's experience. This was really moving. Powerful.A huge bonus was the diving station from a 688 class sub. This was authentic and identical to what we had on both boats I served on. It was special being able to sit in that chair. It wasn't a station that I qualified on, but it definitely brought me back to being 20 and underway in the Pacific outside Pearl. And that leads us to the Silversides. Wow. It reminded me of visiting the Colusseum in Rome. You can feel the fear, the stress, the triumphs and the terror of the hunt leaking out of the bulkheads. If those walls could talk.I have SO MUCH respect for the men who went to war in those cramped, smelly, tiny boats with unreliable torpedoes against such a dangerous opponent. It makes it so real, walking by the wardroom, seeing the control room, the bunk room, engine rooms and especially the torpedo rooms. Every valve matters. Every item there is there to keep the ocean from killing the men and letting them go bring the fight to the Japanese.Take your time here. Expect to spend 2-3+ hours here. Take time to read the displays. Especially watch the video walk through in the theater, and absolutely take your time in the boat. Listen to what these men did, how they lived and reflect on the sacrifices they made.Read about the casualty rates on boats. Give a prayer for those on eternal patrol, and reflect on the freedoms that these men brought to the world.
Obey W — Google review
Easily spend all day here.Explore the history of submarines and their important part in warfare. You can swing by and see the outside for free, but the inside is worth the money to see. The crew here are amazing and I hope to be stopping by again and again.Tickets were purchased by us last minute on a weekend without issue. There were quite a few people there, but we got right on the sub no problem.Apparently, they still run the engine multiple times a year to keep it maintained. They really did a great job keeping it in it's original atmosphere. You get the sense of what it was like.I'd sure like to eat like kings as they did, but I'm not sure I'd want to breathe the stale air for 2 months at a time.

We were in the area camping and came here for a rainy day activity and the chance to see this well preserved artifact of American war history. The museum is pretty good with lots of space and story boards that help explain the events of World War II and this sub’s role in that war. Walking through the sub was also quite interesting with just a few story boards there. We also toured the Coast Guard Cutter which also saw combat duty. Definitely recommend this museum and its boats!

Absolutely loved this place and it's a great family friendly activity. As with almost all my reviews, it's the staff who make or break the customer service experience. Here I had the pleasure of interacting with some of the kindest, friendly and informative people I'd ever had the good fortune to meet.If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in Michigan, this is a place you should definitely visit! Loved it and I highly recommend it!

Great exhibits of the history of Naval units from the area. Really interesting display on a local who jumped in on D-day and his story throughout the war. Highlight was an actual WWII submarine that can be toured. I wish I had more time to spend at the museum.
John L — Google review
Loved that experience! It was so cool to go inside the submarine learn how big it is, how it operates, and how it works when it's submerged in water! We read a lot of interesting facts from the posters! Highly recommend this tour!
Nina T — Google review
WOW! Enjoyed the history and actually walked inside the submarine, and the coast guard ship was memorable. Suggest going right at 10 am when they open.
MJ “ — Google review
We enjoyed the entire museum. The self guided tour was a great. One can walk and read at their own pace. They had at least one person on deck of the submarine to answer questions.

Wonderful, informative museum. The experience on the sub is eye opening.Friendly staff, nice gift shop, plenty of parking, at least in March.Glad we decided to visit.
Tammy M — Google review
My son's Trail Life troop stayed the night on the sub. I was able to also as a chaperone. It was a great time hearing about how the sailors lived and the history of the sub. The museum and staff were also great and informative.

This is definitely a place where you could spend about 5 hours visiting. We were only there for about 2 and a half hours and did not get to look at everything they had on display. The main attraction is by far the submarine, but that is not all that the have to show. The museum building itself has a lot of really interesting exhibits about life at sea, both good and bad. They also have USCGC McLane on display and that is also worth looking around on.
Brian H — Google review
Cool place rich with history but aging. These subs and war museums are a great way to expose kids to history. I was a little surprised at the price of admission. Museum was pretty cool. Also a nice venue they use for a lot of different things. They also let kids sleep on the sub which is pretty cool. Worth a trip out there to see.
Nathan O — Google review
Great museum for all age groups. Our group had 3 adults and 2 kids (11 and 9). We learned about some local soldiers with very interesting experiences in WWII. It would be a great outing for a Scout group too.
Russell S — Google review
This is a very cool museum and has a lot of information pertaining to World War 2 especially the naval side of the war. Being able to walk through a historic submarine is definitely an experience and something I highly recommend everyone experience once. It truly paints a picture of what it might have been like to be aboard one of these vessels during the war. It's an open floor and you can choose what you want to look at or read. The submarine is also open meaning no guided tour which is really nice in my opinion. Tickets can be purchased right when walking in.

Wealth of information. Amazing to see things first hand and interacting with everything adds a whole new perspective. Truly gives a look into the prices that have been paid for our freedoms. If your in the area it's a must stop destination.

Nature & Parks
Muskegon State Park encompasses a vast 1,000 acres of natural beauty, showcasing rare coastal plain marshes, dunes and woodlands. In addition to walking the scenic trails on offer, the park also boasts exciting winter and summer activities such as zip lining and luge runs. The staff at Muskegon State Park are exceptional in their speed, accuracy and commitment to safety while making all participants feel welcome regardless of their abilities or age.
The beach is beautiful and has several parking areas. There are also dune trails you can hike in the area, but need good hiking/walking shoes for those as there is underbrush in areas that could be dangerous with bare feet. If you head north along the scenic drive there are beautiful lookouts to pull off at and other smaller parks along the way. Overall a great area to explore and a great day trip!

Best beach unless there are biting flies. Bring a huge towel to wrap around your entire body if you want to sit on the beach. Water is clean and smooth usually. Large sand bars good for playing catch and the kiddies. Long walks available. Unspoiled views. There’s a cascading walkway down from the park which is perched on a dune.A41 and A42 best bets. The traffic on Scenic drive can be loud at night some times.Overall a great camping spot.

Nice place to camp. It was chilly the weekend we went, but we stayed warm with plenty of firewood. It's got nice showers and bathrooms at the bath house. There are power outlets at each campsite to plug in your electric kettle, griddle, etc. Lovely sunset views in the evening.
Michaela M — Google review
The campsites here are partially wooded and partially sandy. Some spots have a decent view of Heritage Lake. It's a wonderful area to spot native birds and wildlife and a very short walk to the canal and beach (Heritage Lake beach is closest, however if you follow the canal path to the west it takes you to Lake Michigan). The canal seems to be a popular spot for fishermen. The state park is also not very far from Michigan's Adventure theme park, and the cozy Snug Harbor Inn down the road has a decent shop and deli/ice cream shop. Before entering the campground, there are two large parking lots right on Lake Michigan. The dunes here are wonderful and breathtaking. Magnificent spot for sunsets. Please protect the wildlife and vegatation of Michigan - pick up after yourselves and leave no trace.

Took the scenic drive road down to the beach. It's quite a walk out to the lighthouse. Plenty of parking, some tables, and I believe there are bathrooms.

Muskegon State Park was on my to-visit list for a few years now. Between the reviews and photos I thought it would be a neat place to go hiking. My expectations were exceeded, vastly! If you enjoy hiking in forests, beach trails and on dunes/hills; you'll love this place! I managed to capture some great images and panoramas of the Dune Ridge Trail and the Muskegon Channel Path, enjoy!

I loved our stay! The campsite was plenty large for our trailer, campground was very quiet and clean. The beach was so clean and opened. There was a breeze every time we went down to the water. Our favorite place hands down was sitting by the channel watching the boats pass through. We will be be back for a longer stay.

The lighted trails are beautiful. They were not overly lit, so it was easy for my eyes to stay adjusted to seeing at night. This made it a fun and safe experience. We were able to push a stroller the entire trail, although you might want more than one person to assist anyone in a wheelchair with the steepest section. There are paths that allow you to avoid that portion instead if you'd rather.

I took my child here to watch the sunset. Which was absolutely amazing. We parked by one of the free "grab a bag" stations for "dog waste". Unfortunately, some visitors decided they needed to leave their trash in that exact spot. Typically the park is immaculate and very well kept. It is so unfortunate that some people feel the need to trash such beautiful places that we have access to like this. So many people enjoy visiting our local beaches and to see trash all over, is absolutely disappointing. Not only for visitors but for the wildlife as well. I give the park 5 stars as this is such a beautiful and amazing place to go. But we need to do better as humans and the community, at keeping our beaches and dunes clean and free of trash like this.Other than stuff like this trash, caused by uncaring people, this park is a great place to visit! I have lived here my whole life and couldn't count the number of times I have been down here. I will continue to visit as long as I am able. We highly recommend this spot for your all of your beach therapy needs and to view an amazing sunset!

I grew up here, hung out at the guardrails everyday, Even snuck into the campgrounds and made some mischief lol! So many memories and many more to make. I will never grow bored, and will always be in awe of the beauty of our little spot on the lake.Interesting tidbit, did you know that the Great Lakes are actually considered inland seas!

DO NOT TRUST THE PICTURES OR MEASUREMENTS OF YOUR CAMPSITE PROVIDED ON THE WEBSITE.I rented a flat 45' deep campsite, or so the website said. I got there with my 36' fifth wheel and ended up having to park across the middle of our site, eliminating the fire pit because the site was actually on the side of a hill. The location of the park is wonderful! We were only 500ft from the steps to the beach. Bathhouse was clean and well kept.

Had a great time even though it was a little chilly. Camped at the North Loop here on April 19 to 21 at campsite A8. We had 2 cars and 3 tents for the 5 of us and fit pretty good. A slight incline but not enough for it to bother us while sleeping. The office was not open for the season yet and neither were the modern bathrooms or water spigot so we had to find ice, water, and firewood elsewhere. A Few houses nearby sold wood for $5 so that worked out okay. The only issue was the Porta potty was almost overflowing. Luckily there was an extra permanet facility between the small cabins that still had a little room. Great proximity to the sandwich beach and a short drive to some hiking trails. We parked one car near headquarters and took the Lost Lake trail back to our campsite, then drove back to back with out second car to pick up the other one. Great little hike that actually had a lake in the middle with a cool lookout that had telescopes. It can be a little muddy the first mile so don't wear your fancy shoes if that concerns you. They do have wooden planks down to help get through it. We had a great couple of days and to be able to walk to the beach and check out the sunset was just awesome. Definitely will return. I'm curious how the bugs are here when it's warmer because it was too cold for any to bother us, other than a sluggish little bumblebee we saved on the beach.

Great state park right on the water. You can enjoy Lake Michigan or Lake Muskegon depending on what you are after for the day. Camp sites are decent and have power only. Can be cramped when all the sites around you are full, but still should have room for trailer and a tent or two. Lots of birds and wildlife including snakes.

Stayed at the Lake Michigan campground for the second time. Nice size shaded lots, clean restrooms and showers. Access to the beach is easy to get to and you can't be at the sunsets.

Gorgeous beach. Campground is kept nicely with individual stall showers and clean bathrooms. There’s a nice ice cream store walking distance. Rangers are friendly and helpful. Our camping spot was on a slope, which wasn’t the best. They sell wood and have fire pits. Each spot has two plugs.

I love surfing on the north side of the jetty up to the pavilion. It's always fun. The beach is always clean and usually nobody around. Lots of parking.

This is one of our favorite places to camp, is the Chanel loop! It's a highlight for the boys to see the big ships and the lake express to go through! Walk, the dunes, a day at the beautiful beach,⛱️ or take a hike thru woods! The bathroom and showers are recently updated, and very clean! Overall, a very nice and queit campground!

We loved this campground!! We stayed right by the channel and it was amazing! It's a great walk along the channel to the beach. The dunes are beautiful and the campground on the other end is amazing too! The bathrooms are newer and very clean too!

I LOVED this place. The food was delicious and service fantastic. We sat at the bar. Women's bathroom needs big update though. My only complaint. Otherwise the place is fun and terrific!

I've had better. This was my first time at the Blind Squirrel. It seems like a fun place to go and watch sports or hang out with friends. There is little to no privacy when it comes to seating, so if there are a lot of people in there, it's very loud. The service left something to be desired. I ordered the Jalapeño Burger well done. It was far from well done, but by the time we got our food, I decided to bite the bullet. The Cajun fries are delicious, but for the price, you don't get a lot of bang for your buck. They have a large menu, and it may be worth exploring. Just be prepared to spend $20 per person.
Markus R — Google review
I would come back simply for the Cajun fries! The service was fantastic. The food was amazing- we tried the pb&j burger and the jalapeño burger. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu! Highly recommend!
Katlynn K — Google review
I like the mushroom Swiss with sautéed onions, bacon and mayo on the side. The French fries are very good and Blue Moon is on tap. The only downside is the burgers are only a 1/3lb. Patty. There are some fun and challenging burgers on the menu as well.

Nourishing but disappointingly average. IPA served warming. Food coolish and plain. Service slow and inaccurate and forgetful. One visit doesn’t tell the story but there’s a lot of room for improvement here.

We went in the big dining room. We were a little early it opens at 4 and was empty. We were going to leave as the bar was full and very busy.A nice young man named Quinn, came over apologized saying he came in a little early and invited us to stay. He immediately took care of us and we had drinks appetizers that were “perfect “ as was Quinn’s service. What an awesome experience we didn’t expect given our timing. Thanks!

I went here because of the name, and a guy at work said it was a good place. He wasn't wrong. The food was good, it's definitely a popular neighborhood place,as this is the cheers of Fremont. The girl behind the bar seemed to know everyone's name. Always go where the locals hang.

Plenty of good food options. My favorite is the shrimp Po'boy. The bar areas is nice, but the dinner/gaming area is worn. The staff is mostly friendly. (I think I've had one or two bad apples over the years)

The burgers are good. Especially the PB&J one. Chicken wings were spot on the last couple times I've had them. And the salads are very good also. Drinks are good and a nice selection of beer.

Took almost 2 hours to get our food. Well done burger was still mooing. Send it back, it came back microwaved with a soggy bun and hard as a rock fries. Ended up leaving and ordering a pizza. Thought maybe it was a bad night and we did end up trying it again and it was just as bad.

Decent small town tavern and restaurant. Priced a little high, but so is everything these days. Service was good. A little crowded in the dining room area and noisy for the same reason. Food was good.

Really enjoyed this place. The food was very good. The squirrel sauce is amazing. I was being smart 🫏 and asked the waitress how they got to sauce, and she said the milk the squirrels. I didn't see any blind squirrels, but this place is worth a night for dinner.

I fell in love with this place the first time I saw it! It’s actually a Resort campus with not only an awesome golf course and clubhouse with a restaurant, but it has the best driving range I’ve ever seen with eight indoor/outdoor Toptracer hitting bays and a Sports bar attached called The Bunker. On top of that there’s The Pavilion event center for weddings and receptions🎯⛳️🙌🏻👍

The golf course was in good shape and fun to play. Practice area outstanding. But the Bar and restaurant was closed. Will go back again.

Best course and range in the area. Two lakes, two all new holes and a new range facility. Something new every year.

Beautiful course, greens fast and true! Fairways gorgeous, rough is trouble but playable ,fair. Only reason for 4 is couple holes under construction but we are in fall season and fall rates.Only negative to us was trying to figure out where to go on a few holes, minor. Will absolutely play again!

Have played here several times. Golf course is nice. Most of the time pace of play is good, but they allow "members" to play 5-somes. So just be aware when you go. Make sure to take your own cooler of ice, pop, and snack because getting service on the turn is extremely SLOW. And there is no "call to order" on the 8th hole.

Course was in fantastic condition when we played here. Fairways were well maintained & greens were fairly fast. Very picturesque course with some beautiful views on a number of holes. I didn’t use the practice area before our round but it looked top notch. Overall very happy with the golf & we will definitely be back.

Course in great shape, bunkers had nice sand no rocks. Greens were a little slower than what I expected, but in great shape. Carts are clean and very nice with GPS. We went to the Bunker to have drinks and food after our round and to our surprise it was closed, not opening until 4pm, even tho the pro shop attendant told us it was open.

First time playing here - what a great track! Ate dinner after 9 and with the heat index, they took care of us and gave us a rain check for the other 9. Top notch service from Bill at the Pro shop, and our server Ashley in the restaurant. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

I had not played this course for many years, so I was surprised it was even better than I remembered it. The green are in great shape and have lots of "fun"dulations. The driving range has a great place sit with friends and enjoy food and beverages while play games...similar to Top Golf.

Had the guy come up to us on 4th hole and start yelling at us for golfing with too many people. No respectful warning or anything. Just rode out to us and started yelling! I booked tee time 2 days in advanced with our group and nobody told us how many could go at a time. Not a good experience what so ever!! Where's the respect?

Had a great time at the Bunker at Waters Edge. The Coolest golf facility around. Amazing indoor heated stalls with food and drinks. The staff was great and so helpful showing us how to use the Top Tracer system. More than a driving range, the games and golf simulator made it a great way to spend a winter afternoon. We will be back for sure!

This was my second time here and it is really a hidden gem. I was greeted by the same server, Emily Boltz, who had given me an amazing experience last year when I had flown out from New York with my boyfriend to use the golf course. This place is GORGEOUS. Emily also has got the world cup for playing for us on the tv 😁 I'm so happy to have come back and will plan to make more returns. I miss Michigan!

Just after the remodel my husband went with his brother and had a great experience. He decided to bring me for our first anniversary dinner. We had a reservation tonight (on a Friday) at 6:30pm and arrived about five to. They seated us right away but out in the sun room and in the far corner. The hostess said Kaylee (sp?) would be right with us. Half an hour passes and servers have come and gone to other tables except the other one in the corner. We were served water right away and a young lady did refill my water in the half hour. After half hour the other table talked with us said they had ordered at 6, still waiting for their food after an hour. I saw two employees clear a table in the main room. Thereafter was seated an older couple to sit there. Within 5 minutes they were being waited on, order being taken. Safe to say we got up and left. My husband says he doesn’t plan to return. Not worth the drive from Howard City / Pierson to wait that long. We informed the hostess and hopefully they see this review and make some changes.
